Taken into account their commercial success, they are surely one of the most overrated bands in rock history.

simply can't stand this band. So much thing that got nothing to do with music. Overrated yes....but as long as this kind of movies will pop up, i'm ok. Also Rocketman will be out in 2019....

Love the Crue so was looking forward to this...
I thought it was OK. Shouldve been a 10 part series - when film was originally submitted it was over 4 hours long but trimmed to 1hr 48m. Now I know you cannot include everything from the book but Im pretty sure releasing a debut album (especially independently at first) is fairly important - but according to the film you'd think Shout at the Devil was the first album. Vince leaving, (no mention of his excellent 1st solo album) Corabi's years and Vinces return was really rushed. No mention that Tommy left and returned either! I thought Kelly was an excellent Tommy. |

I'm not finished with it yet, but there's plenty about it that bugs me.
When telling the story of meeting Doc, they mention him working with KISS. He didn't become their manager until 1995 leading into the reunion. They have them at the Forum as headliners on the Shout At the Devil tour as their big debut, using a stage and level of pyrotechnics they didn't even approach until much later. The stage and venue is also distractingly small, obviously on a soundstage. I can see the try to go for some visual authenticity, but mostly it looks cheap and sloppy. |
