No complaints about the set, not bothered about Robby getting 4 songs, don't seem to mind his voice as much as others do, nice wee change instead of it being the same voice on every song. Would love it if Bon Jovi did an album where Richie had the lead vocal on a few tracks.

Hearing Iris live was something else!

Also got a nice acoustic version of 'Can't Let It Go' in the encore.

It's not that I particularly mind Robby's voice, it's that his song are generally much punkier and, for me, just aren't as good. It's when he gets 4 songs (and not even the best 4 songs of his (I much prefer Tucked Away and Now I Hear to January Friend and Another Second Time Around) and there's no room for Big Machine, Dizzy, Keep the Car Running, Slow It Down and Caught in the Storm that I think a bad decision's been made.

Official Goo Goo Dolls Statement About Mike's Departure
Posted by ETina
December 30, 2013

Over the past few days you may have heard through the internet that our drummer of the past 19 years, Mike Malinin will no longer be touring with the band.

It is true Mike is no longer with the band, but we wish him the best in his new journey and hope that fans and friends alike will take a minute to consider this decision was not taken lightly by anyone involved. Things happen personally and professionally that drive difficult decisions like this, but rest assured we are looking forward to continuing our 28 year journey as GGDS.

We can't wait to share more music and memories with all the fans and friends that have been such a huge part of our lives.

Happy New Year!

Goo Goo Dolls

Anyone heard any rumours as to why Mike has left the band? I've heard that the decision was not made by him.

Quite sad as I believe him to be a really top class drummer.

Not heard anything other than that statement, but noticed he has been absent from recent GGD appearances.

Just checked his twitter, @mikemalinin , he's tweeted Richie asking if he wanted to start a band with him lol

Wow, how surprising. They looked to be all happy with each other a few months ago when i saw them.

Yeah reading Mike's twitter it's clear that he's been pushed out. Rather odd decision from what I can see.

Some similarities being made between Richie's departure and Mike's. He has just had twins apparently, was it another case of wishing to spend more time at home with his family?

http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1rv934m - interesting piece. Couldn't agree more with the shameful way Richie's exit was handled and the grace in which Mike seems to have bowed out despite it clearly not being his choice.

And South America.

I really couldn't be more happy that they're playing Think About Me Again... It's just one of my favorite songs.

And I guess I like this storyteller format, that for Jovi would bring some freshness to the band.
