The Rock Am Ring concert on Friday (webcast) was freakin' awesome! Esp. since it started raining in the middle of the show and the stage apparently has no roof so the band was soaking wet and Stipe's makeup got all messy, but he seems to like the rain and the show just got better because of it!

The last third of the show was unlike anything I've ever witnessed, seen or heard, no slow songs at all!

R.E.M. to get back to work
Sources: NME.COM, GIGWISE.com

REM are to return from their hiatus at the end of 2006 to record a new album according to drummer Bill Rieflin.

Rieflin told Billboard: "The band's on hiatus. The idea at the end of the last tour, which ended in July, was really to take a year off, without having to even think about it."

"There was a three-year period of quite intense work, (so this is) some needed time off. There's some discussion about cranking things up in autumn, maybe winter."
