Prayer is the 27th most played song on Spotify

Just about 30 million listens. It has about 100 times more on Youtube....
Still - just about ahead of U2, Guns N' Roses and Metallica. Surely that's not a coincidence...

Very good page for data geeks. Check it out.

Interesting find.

Many of these songs just represent some awful time in music like those Nu Metal and crossover bands.

Nice find! Most played '80s songs:

05. Livin' On A Prayer
17. You Give Love A Bad Name
47. Wanted Dead Or Alive

I guess I'll never understand the hype about Mr Brightside.

Other than those 3 songs, not a single 90s or 00s song in the respective top 50 of the decade. You'd think always and it's my life would be there....

No Wonder their still seen as an 80s band no matter what they do. U2, Aerosmith and Metallica appear across all 3 decades....

Would be cool if we could see those stats for every country, but I don't think Spotify stores data that way. For example, Thank You For Loving Me has a little global number of playings but, since Spotify launched on Argentina, it's always been on the TOP 10.

Well, Bad Name has 20 million plays and It's My Life 18 million. Always is close to 10 million and so is Bed Of Roses, even Have A Nice Day has close to 5. I wouldn't say that's bad.

That's fair enough. Still they are doing a lot better relatively to their peers in the 80s, but then not so well in the 90s and 00s. There's a reason for that.

It shows that SWW is still their biggest record with their most popular songs.
Metallica released their Black Album in the early 90's and for me Nothing Else Matters it is their Wanted.

Some updates on the data:

Prayer has now 70 million listens, Bad Name has 48 and It's My Life has got 44 which is almost 20 million more than Wanted.

What really bothers me is this:

Because We Can: 9,6 million
These Days: 2,0 million
Keep The Faith: 3,8 million

It is very sad...
