Joey

Hi everyone,
I've been listening to Bounce these days and thinking about the lyric of 'Joey'.
Is it song about Jessy, by any chance? Bounce was released in 2002 so I think it was written around 2000 or 2001 when he was 5-6 years old.
See the part of its lyric that I've been thinking so. What do you think?:D
************************************************** ****
Hey Joey
Come on tell me 'bout your dreams
Tell me all the sights you're gonna see
Tell me who you're gonna be

Hey Joey
You're gonna kiss the girls goodnight
Sometimes you got to stand and fight
It'll be alright
We're gonna find a better life

See Joe was 3 years younger to the day
Acting like a little brother but became my ball and chain

I'm sorry, but I do actually think its a fiction. Perhaps inspired by Jons and Richies youth.

...I've been listening to bounce recently too...and love Joey. For me its about two mates who grew up together but although they have that closeness they're quite different now they've grown up...One is a go getter and Joey not so...the go getter wants to help joey to live his life more fully, he feels it's almost his duty to.

No.
Jon says the song is influenced by Elton Johns song 'Levon' and if you compare the two there are similarities. Only Levon is better.

I was always under the impression that Joey was about a guy with severe learning disabilities, not a small child ;)

Yup - me too. Watch the video - the last scene is cool.

I loved that song from the minute I heard the piano intro. Since I'm a piano player that hooked me instantly. The long intro that David played on the Bounce tour - to Joey or Right Side of Wrong - was incredible. Both songs were not played in the same concert though - they were alternated with Right Side of Wrong being played more often.

There's a video?

The whole Bounce album has a video montage that accompanies it.

That was always my impression too. This song always touches close to home as I have a daughter with disabilities and it is a feel good kind of song of one friend helping another.
