100,000,000 BJFCBW & 38 Previously Unreleased Tracks.(?)

I was just wondering how many of the 38 previoulsy unreleased tracks were actually known to members of this board?

Were there many surprises on there or were those tracks already known to Jovi faithfuls?

Captain_jovi 03-25-2006 04:06 AM

Pretty much most of the tracks I had never even heard OF but a handful, the titles have been floating around forever. Pretty much all 38, I had never heard at all. They did a great job grabbing songs that have never been leaked.

Prior to the box set being published I had some versions of these songs:
Thief Of Hearts, Last Man Standing, Starting All Over Again, Rich Man Living In A Poor Man's House, Good Guys Don't Always Wear White, Edge Of A Broken Heart, Lonely At The Top, Ordinary People, If I Can't Have Your Love, Real Life, Breathe and Temptation

plus of course the studio versions of Someday, Always and LOAP.

So that's 12 or 15 tracks.

I knew of all the ones Ice mentioned, minus Rich Man...plus Open All Night and Only In My Dreams

LOL
Ice, most of the songs you mention have been released previously, Vax was asking about the previously unreleased
I have only heard If I Can't Have Your Love, but a different version, apart from that I only knew about Letter To A Friend, so I have to agree with Captain_jovi

Obie did a good job with the box set. Exept of the former b-sides that I knew of course I only knew less than a handful of the songs before. The only ones I remember at the moment is the one that Richie sings but in a different version (with guitar, not piano) and the demo-version of Prayer without talkbox.

Nobody's_Hero 03-25-2006 03:29 PM

I knew next to none of those tracks. The only ones I knew of were Thief of Hearts, Last Man Standing and I heard Real Life.

The boxset was done real well. I can't say I love all songs, but they did a great job collecting rare songs. This is how bands with > 5 albums should do a boxset.

Wildflower 03-27-2006 08:56 PM

I didn't know any song,they did a great job!
But why and how didn't they put on even Prostitute and Fields of fire????

aph01 03-27-2006 09:06 PM

I never bought the boxset, is it worth getting?? Is there much good stuff on it??

Cheers, Ali.

Yes, just buy it. It's probably the most worthwhile thing they've put out since These Days

Sambo-Chris 03-27-2006 10:36 PM

It's interesting for collectors but in my opinion the mayority of the songs are just avarage.

Bongo VII 03-28-2006 12:03 AM

I actually bought the box set before any other Bon Jovi cd, and it's the reason I'm a Bon Jovi fan now, so I'd say buy it

Alphavictim 03-28-2006 02:16 AM

I don't have it as well - how much would you say is it worth? For sheer listening pleasure that is - I can very well live without "interesting introspections in the band's archives" or whatever, I want good songs.

kiddSambo 03-28-2006 03:40 AM

IMO there are some awesome songs on there. Sure there are a few I could have done without, but there are alot you hear and just think "I can't believe it didn't make the album". There are some real gems, I'd say definitely get it.

I'd say you are missing out on a lot of hidden gems if you don't get it. Out of the 50 songs, 12 which are known, I'm sure you'll find some stuff you really like.

That is very cool knowing someone became a fan because of the box set. I did not realize that's how you became a fan.

Yeah. Before I bought the box set (which was kind of a stupid gamble, buying something that expensive without much familiarity with the catalogue) I just had this one cd with whatever I could find on LimeWire on it.

I think that cd was Just Older, One Wild Night, The Distance, In and Out of Love, Livin' on a Prayer, Bad Medicine, Jon singing "Respect", and It's My Life

I figured the box set was a good way to get a lot of their music to get familiar with at once. And it was. It was also a good way to turn me into a ridiculous David Bryan fan(although for a long time even after I got it I called him "that other guy with the bad hair, B-something).

I definitely recommend it for the people who don't have it yet.

Definitly worth it!!!Just buy it!!There's some funny stuff, some very good songs and some bad ones...But the band did it just for us,so....BUY IT!!!Trust me!

bonjovidudes 03-28-2006 05:26 PM

With about 12-15 superb songs and some good ones and a handful crap awful ones it is definitely a good buy.
Songs like Radio saved my life tonight, Why aren't you dead, Garageland, Open all night, All I wanna do is you, If I can't have your love, I get a rush, Last man standing, Symphathy, Satelitte, Too much of a good thing, Love ain't nothing but a 4 letter word (demo version, not the brass-band version), River runs dry, Nobody's hero can easily replace songs they put on albums over the years and would have given the band more "masterpieces" than they have now.

So just for these tracks, I'm a happy Boxsetcamper....

aph01 03-28-2006 08:15 PM

What would the best tracks on the box set be??
