In 2005, he celebrated his 25th anniversary releasing the double album "Anthology" and toured the Budokan yet again which made the fans realize his power. The new album will be his "11"th studio album with "11" tracks. He is also planning to promote for "11" days in "11" cities with possible "11" promotion tours.

As a live performer, you can't touch him. His voice his just awesome. I just hope 11 is an improvement on Room Service, with a more guitar-driven sound.

Dave 1986 01-14-2008 01:57 AM

I want Bryan to rock again, not country.

JerseyboyUK 01-14-2008 03:12 AM

The type of guitar on the cover suggests maybe it is a more laid back, perhaps country approach!
Never been a huge fan of his recorded albums, but i agree he is a top-class live performer.

Dave 1986 01-14-2008 11:57 AM

His albums do lack consistancy generally, which is why I can't always listen all the way through. The only albums of his that flow alot better are Reckless and, for the most part, On A Day Like Today. Even Room Service, despite the fact it's probably his weakest album, flows and fits nicely together, IMO.

Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron flows brilliantly IMO (although it does have orchestral instrumental tracks and reprises of a couple of songs) ... suppose it depends if you count that as a proper album, but then most people consider Blaze Of Glory a proper album, so ...

Supersonic 01-14-2008 05:19 PM

Aloha !

Spirit is shit, and only flows because the last 10 tracks merely sound the same.

I'm wondering what Bryan Adams will release now, since Room Service obviously was a bland as an album could be, it only had 3 good songs, the rest of it was pure filler to me.

Also, this album was supposed to be released at the same time as Room Service. At least, that was his idea, to release 2 albums at the same time. One of it should contain the songs like you have them now on Room Service, and the other disc should have the songs stripped, like played on one acoustic guitar. Obviously, this idea wasn't supported by the record company, since Bryan Adams had not released a big seller since 1996, and it seemed to piss him off a bit, hence the delay with Room Service.

Then the next idea was to release the album a year later, a year later he said he had written 10 new songs, and last year he was supposed to be supporting the album, but he still had not finalised it and came up with the excuse that "he hadn't finished writing the songs." Oh well.

He will tour the album this summer in Europe though, the Scandinavian Tour is already confirmed and on sale, and he'll probably visit most of the other parts of Europe again as well. He's a good performer, but I wish he'd drop half of the ballads for once. Half of his set is filled with every nineties ballad he has ever released, and as soon as you're into the set, there's another Everything I Do. A shame really, because when he's into it he really knows how to rock.

The type of guitar on the cover is a Gretsch, a guitar Bryan and his guitar player Keith Scott use for most rock driven songs. Summer Of '69, Kids Wanna Rock, The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You are all songs played on such guitars since 1996, I think.

Sebastiaan

The Spirit album never entered my mind on this thread. I only listen to the "Bryan" tracks on that album, but those 6 or so songs do flow well also. I suppose the fact that it was a movie soundtrack/score help this.

Bounce7800 01-25-2008 03:06 AM

Look forward to hearing it soon. Saw BA on his Wembley soon (Adams. not Baracas). Was very good, was supposed to have the album out then

Dave 1986 01-28-2008 12:28 AM

Just edited my first post with the 11 tracklist. Also, I'd Thought I'd Seen Everything premiers on radio on January 28th. That's tomorrow!

Anyone heard it yet? Is it any good?

Heard it yesterday, and wasn't impressed. Middle of the road and predictable aren't even the words. It's a very plain song. It's basically continuing the vibe of Room Service.

Seems to be a running theme, looking at the album and single covers

Meh, I'll reserve judgement til I actually hear it, but I'm strongly not expecting my world to be set alight

Me neither. I may have sounded excited in my original posts, maybe because I was hoping for a slight return to form, or at least he may have learnt from Room Service.

I'm gona download the album first, at least.

Captain Walrus 01-31-2008 08:30 PM

Wow, classic rock with a country twang really does seem to be the new black doesn't it?

Off of one listen, it seems to be an alright song ... but if its indicative of the album then my prediction that it won't set my world alight would seem to be accurate

You're not wrong there! It would fit nicely in that second half of Lost Highway wouldn't it.

Not necessarily, his earlier stuff rom the 80's and a handful of his 90's material is great to listen to, even if it was "middle of the road". This new single and his last studio album was dull and boring.

That's kinda my view. but Open Road was the first single off Room Service and was probably the best song on there. Just hope there will be better stuff on the rest of the album.

My favourite song was I Was Only Dreaming, with Room Service, She's A Little Too Good, and Not Romeo Not Juliet among the better ones

Supersonic 02-04-2008 12:00 PM

Aloha !

Open Road was a direct rip off from Run To You, and the rest of the album was just more of the same really. He hadn't made an album in over 5 years and the best he could come up with was Room Service, an album that was filled with songs that wouldn't have made it as b-sides on the 18 Til I Die singles.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Agreed. Room Service is one of the weakest albums I own, and I have a LOT of CD's. Surprising considering the 6 year gap from On A Day Like Today. (Unless you wanna count the Spirit soundtrack)

As much as I may complain about Bon Jovi's recent offerings (not that I do that much anyway), they're alot better than Bryan's recent material.

Supersonic 02-10-2008 05:33 PM

Aloha !

I just listened to the new single for the first time, and although the music is alright, the lyrics are way too over the top. You just can not be seriously rhyming the stuff :

"I like the way we are - I love what we've become"

with

"When I'm in your arms - I know I've found the one"

Does anyone else really ever write songs like that? I mean, if I'd wrote that down and show it to a girl, she'd think I'd take the piss out of her.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

BonJovi1988-1992Mark 02-17-2008 04:24 PM

Wasnt impressed with the single!!

But i'll get the album and form an opnion then.

Dave 1986 03-11-2008 06:29 PM

u ca listen to 10second snippets of some songs from the album on his official website. I gave them a listen, and to be fair, they were a bit better than what I was expecting. Granted they're still only short clips of song and I only listened to each of them once, but they were decent. It looks like 11's shaping up to be an improvement (of sorts) on Room Service.

Supersonic 03-11-2008 10:56 PM

Aloha !

I've heard a live version of the single from one the casino shows he did in North America and like usual the album version does not do any justice to the way the song is performed. If only he'd recorded the song like a rock song and would have improved the lyrics a bit it could've been a proper Bryan Adams classic.

I'm still not impressed with the snippets. Yes it sounds better than Room Service, but that wasn't really that difficult to achieve.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

No part of me wants to add to my work load :)

It could be stopped incidentally, but there are terabytes of illegal material online so erm, yeah :)

Anyway, I'm an illegal images specialist, I couldn't give a toss frankly

I'm sure there aint one single person on this board, who hasn't 'illegally' downloaded a single song/album! :)

Probably right. It's quite ironic, the fans of real, well written, proper music, like Bon Jovi, Bruce, Bryan and so on, still contribute to the stores and chains closing. It's tragic, come 2015, HMV will be completely different, or non existent. Maybe just online. *reaches for a tissue*

I'm contributing to a book to be published late this year on the subject.

Very true Ryan mate. I will still definitely go out and buy the new Bryan Adams album on Monday, but I just wanted a sneak preview. I have downloaded the torrent file, but not started the actual download itself. I'll see how long *IF* I can last. But yeh, tbh the majority of my album's are simply downloads only. I don't burn them to CD, I just use them for listening to on my ipod. I don't know about yourself or anyone else here, but I rarely listen to an 'actual physical' CD these days. I listen to my ipod for over 2 and a half hours a day commuting.

You're right about HMV/Zavvi and the likes. I've noticed these stores are generally very quiet when you walk past or go in nowadays. Especially, compared to 5 or 6 years ago. The only time they actually seem to get remotely 'busy' is over Xmas time, when people buy cd's etc as gifts.

Listening to the first track now. Sounds alright, but then again with most BA albums, the first track is usually the best. Still unsure weather or not to cancel my pre-order though. I'll give it a proper listen tomorrow after work.
