Billboard's 2018 50 Highest-Paid Musicians

28. Bon Jovi $14.5M

Sales $563.3K
Streaming $523.5K
Publishing $475.7K
Touring $12.9M

In a year without an album release -- the band’s last LP, This House Is Not for Sale, came out in 2016 -- the 2018 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees’ U.S. sales, streaming and publishing royalties still amounted to a respectable $1.6 million.

Knowing how little money streaming makes artists that's a super impressive number and shows the power of their back catalog.

So if I'm understanding this correctly, the 2018 tour grossed 38 million and Jon netted 12.9?

I guess it wasn't the big failure everyone was hoping for after all...

The 2017 and 2018 legs are pretty much dead even..

And between the two tours (I was going to say 'legs' but that would sound right), they grossed 77 million playing 54 shows... and this doesn't include South America and the upcoming Australia/Japan...

Including SA 83.4M - 59 Shows and then with the 6 upcoming shows, they should get close to 100 million to end the year...

Not bad for a guy with no voice and who also lost his creative partner... (Keeping in mind this was an Arena Tour)... This is how Jon will finish his career.

You seem to be switching between bashing the band for not having the musical standards of the past and attacking other users for criticizing them all the time.

1. Yes, he's made a lot of money. Well played, kudos to him!

2. Taking into consideration how exorbitant most of the "special packages" and also general ticket prices have become, it's not that much of an achievement as it may have been 10-15 years ago.

3. Jon is the one singer in the world who probably doesn't have to be able to sing to make money with music anymore. In general, the Bon Jovi consists of the biggest amount of tone-dead people I've ever seen at concerts. Of course not all, but there's an insane amount who simply don't notice when something's completely out of tune.
As long as he can pull off his fake smile and shake his ass, he can live well off tours for the rest of his career. :D

I think if Jon wants to do a small 8 to 10 show Stadium Summer Tour across the major cities of North America, he'll need to pull in Richie... I could see them putting out an EP or some type of Box Set that contains a few new songs... and then getting together next summer to promote it doing the stadium thing...

This House was written in 2015 and sat for a year while they figured out the record company debacle...

Jon might be itching to put out some new material but if you look at the trends, usually some type of compilation does follow an album. But with Jon's new record contract, it's hard to say what type of deal he worked out... If they do go in the vault and pull out some old stuff, it would only make sense for Richie to help promote it...

Yes, I'm allowed to do that. Being hypocritical is my thing...

BTW, Bon Jovi fans being 'tone def' is a horrible argument!!! Look, Jon still puts on a great show... Sure, it's not what it once was but it's still solid and I think anyone who actually attended a show would agree... I know first hand...

When you listen to the Living On A Prayer soundboard from Philly, it doesn't sound like that when you are there... They audio is mixed, they are putting the vocals in front, and whatever else... The thunder sounding acoustics masks most of it when you are there live... There is also an energy that goes along with all too... I've said it all a millions times...Although a good voice is important, it's not the only thing needed to make a show great...

I don't want to start another topic on Jon's voice, I'm just merely pointing out that this leg (and entire tour) was very successful contrary to some of the comments I've read like "there are some tickets on stub hub for 6 bucks, this tour is a bust" or "there are still some seats available and it's not a real sellout, they should just quit" or "Jon will never make it through another tour"

Jon's approaching 70 shows and has some good numbers. Exactly, kudos for him!!! And that's my point...

And I'll argue the ticket price thing...Yes, they have packages that are a little over the top but 1, that shows demand, 2 most bands do offer the same thing, 3 those packages are very limited when you look at the entire size of an arena, and 4 I don't think ticket prices were that bad at all for the average ticket goer... I was looking at some prices for other shows this summer and Bon Jovi is no different and might even be a little cheaper... Taylor Swift just did three nights at Metlife Stadium and her prices were outrageous... 100 plus for upper deck... Jon's were like 20 during the 2013 tour for those same seats...

a new single/radio play, then they sell records/tickets (they can add more dates to the tour)
