The official Aerosmith topic
I have saw single threads about Aerosmith, pretty much dead but there wasn't an official one so I have created one. :p
Anyway, I have heard the band are writing for a new album. They were meant to be doing a show soon, too, but Joe Perry has had problems again with his knee so it had to be postponed. :( Also, apparently when the album comes out they will be doing a tour of the US. Does anyone know if any European dates will be added? |
Aloha !
They've been working on that album since 2003 now and every time it looks like the band might hit the studio's to finish it they go out on tour and use it as an excuse for not being able to finish the album. Joe Perry has said that there will be more dates for the upcoming tour for the rest of the world but we've all heard that before too. http://www.aeroforceone.com/af1/cms/...yard_2_new.gif Salaam Aleikum, Sebastiaan |

Oh well, hopefully they will finish it because if Joe can't tour then the only thing they can do is write, maybe leading to it being finalised and released? |
I hope they put a good record out because my interest in Aerosmith is hanging by a thread. It doesn't feel to great when you no longer have interest in a band you have spent a good deal of money to see on tour.
Meanwhile, I wish Joe a speedy recovery. I was aware of his past knee problems but not that he had to have surgery recently. |
Aloha !

'Aerosmith', 'Get Your Wings', 'Toys In The Attic', 'Rocks', and 'Draw The Line' are mindblowing good rock and roll albums, then it all went to shit. 'Pump' and 'Permanent Vacation' have a couple of decent tracks on each, but in my opinion Aerosmith never really suited the shiny production that the 80's/90's albums exhibited. 'Nine Lives' and inparticularily 'Just Push Play' are complete turds, utterly devoid of any attitude or soul. Them early albums are amazing, and 'Honkin' On Bobo' offered some genuine hope. I just pray that they pull thier finger out and give us a great stripped down rock and roll record, not the pop-shite they've released over the last 15-20 years. |

I don't mind them, decent band. Prefer their earlier more Stones-y stuff, myself. The big Don't Wanna Miss A Thing Style ballads don't really do it for me, to be honest, but the rock 'n' roll stuff's good.
Mama Kin's such a ****ing tune. |

Shit! Total knee replacement? Ouch.
About time there was an official Aerosmith thread :) As for a new album? Well i'd settle for just a UK live date at the moment. Although that knee op will take quite a while to heal properly. Thats no.1 priority. |
I really like Aerosmith. Some great songs! I love I Don't Want To Miss A Thing though. Has been a bit over-played but is a great song. I love there old stuff more though. Another good song is Jaded :D

Toys In The Attic is one of my all time favourite albums. I love some of their new stuff too, particulary the song Devil's Got A New Disguise, but a lot of shit has come from the new era too.
However, I yet to hear the famous Rocks and I've not yet checked out the debut album too, but I'm very excited to hear them both. |

Haven't seen it in a couple years though so you'll have to take Seb's word for the poor mixing and big tittied girls. |

I kind of enjoyed the interview sections. The problem with my copy is that Joe Perrys guitar is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too low in the mix.
And its not a great performance anyway. |
Btw, what about Live In Japan 2002? I've watched some performances on YouTube and have enjoyed them, but there is no coverart so it doesn't look official meaning I'm sort of sceptical about it.

The official Aerosmith topic
Possibly the first real rock band I ever discovered (I believe The Simpsons episode "Flaming Moe" introduced me to them :p) and the first band I really got into and became a fan of, followed by Bon Jovi, almost a decade ago!
I bought Japan 2002 off Play.com for something like £7.99. Blatently a bootleg but is very decent. Easily better than You Gotta Move (which I believe I've only watched once since 2004). A Little South Of Sanity is pretty much what you'd expect for an Aerosmith live album if you've not seen/heard them live already - ****ing awesome. I myself am still yet to see them live. I also got the Making of Pump DVD which is good if you like these type of things. As for albums, their 70's stuff is the best easily, but the more commercial Geffen-era albums are still good aswell. Never been fussed on Permanent Vacation, but Pump and Get A Grip are solid. Yes, it's very polished up like an 80's hair-metal album, but it's still Aerosmith. Nine Lives is patchy. Quite bland for the most part, but the title track, "Falling In Love (Is Hard On The Knees)", "Hole In My Soul", "Pink" and "Attitude Adjustment" are good. Just Push Play though is very weak indeed. The only song I like on there is "Jaded". |
