In These Arms

For people who have heard both, do you prefer David's version or the band's?

Bongo I know you prefer David's version. Same is the case with me.

I like David's version alot. I remember the first time I heard it being a little surprised by how much I liked it. It is hard to say what I prefer though because they are so different. Dave's is so stripped down, just vocals and piano.. I do like after the piano solo how he slows it all down with the "And these are my words they keep me strong.. Baby.... Baby.... Baby now... " and the ending. WOW.. it's a pretty passionate performance.

The band version though is up there in my top Jovi songs of all time. I SOOO wanted to see it live this summer! I love the emotion Jon puts into the song, both on the album and live versions. And the video has always been one of my favorites too (it might have have something to do w. Jon crawling around on his hands and knees) but mostly it's just such a good song.

If I have to choose I am going with band version... probably because it is the first version I loved.

But congratulate yourself Bongo because reading this makes me want to go get out my David CD and listen to his version. It's been a while since I have listened to it...(Don't scold me LOL!)

I prefer the band's version, but David's is a good listen too.

No scolding, I don't listen to it very much. Mostly because I like to listen to it when I can really just chill out and pay lots of attention to it, and I don't always have an hour to devote to David.

I actually heard David's before I ever heard the band version, which might be part of the reason I like it so much better (although a very small part, if at all). Totally blew me away. The first time I heard the band version I was actually kind of disappointed. I like it more now than I did then.

Weird as it might sound, considering there's actually more to the band version as far as instruments, I feel like it's lacking in comparison. I think it's the way David sings it compared to the way Jon sings it. Jon puts a lot of emotion into it, but next to how crazy intense David is it doesn't sound like it so much.

And David's "your clothes are still scattered all over the room..." part just kills me.

I do like the band version, it's just in comparison it falls flat (at least for me).

Don't kill me Bongo but I don't care for David's version. I don't like his vocals on it. I do like David's voice on other songs I've heard him sing though, just not that one.

I LOVE the band version of this song both studio and live.

I love the band's version better. This is their Stairway To Heaven.
