If there are some interesting guitars, I bet it will be a contribution of John Shanks. |
Sure but that's not my point. The outcry is that there is nothing separating this and the last album. This is something different. It at least has the chance to have a different sound. "I doubt that Phil's contribution is strong, rather it will be diluted." is all some fine crystal ball talk but at least they're adding him in at the beginning.

Phil X: "That's MY first time, recording with the band from the ground up, so that was kinda cool."

I don't have any reason to doubt Phil. Personally I think the album will have more than a nod to country music which I will be more than happy with.

I'm sure he feels more invested in this one has he's been there from the start, so it's going to feel better all round for him.... With Shanks producing it's unlikley to change in sound very much though... |
But he could have said the album is similar to THINFS. If he says its not, I believe him.
|
I think he's pretty aware that most of the fans are not very positive about THINFS....saying that the album is similar will not provide any excitement whatsoever for the album...
|
Or he could have dodged the question entirely if he felt that way. He's very outspoken and says what he's feeling regardless of potential consequences, I just don't have any reason to think he's lying about him thinking the sound is different. You don't go from too open to that.
