Bon Jovi’s New Jersey mansion is on the market

Quote:

TheRealDeal.com: A 15-acre estate...(which) was most recently home to recording artist and rock star Jon Bon Jovi...was recently listed for sale...

The 18,000-square-foot home has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a 50-foot wide living room with 12-foot high ceilings, a grand fireplace, custom-designed parquet flooring, a heated outdoor swimming pool and a heated three-car garage...

Bon Jovi, the lead singer of his eponymous band, which he formed in 1983, reportedly completed the Middletown mansion in 1999 after two years of construction...Other buildings on the property include a private pub known as the Shoe Inn, a repurposed 20th century stable that has its own recording studio (where Bon Jovi has recorded every record since “Crush” in 2000) and seven double-door garages...

(Its)...price is available upon request...
Guess those rumors about the tour tickets going for less than half price aren't rumors. And he's scheduled a Runaway Tours cruise before the THINFS South American leg? Sounds like he's hurting for money...

It's a mansion, technically. :p

Very surprised by this. It was built specifically for Jon and his family and I remember reading an interview where he said he wanted to be buried under a tree in the grounds!
How you would rather live in New York and not that beautiful house and surroundings I would never know!😳

It works if you're not even remotely the person you used to be for the first 20 years of your career.

I've read so many articles and interviews post 2000 saying that studio is the "sound" of the band and it really guts me to hear it'll never be that way again. I know it's been a while since they recorded there but I have so many memories of videos from the 2000s. God those BJTVs created excitement.

They used the internet when there was no web 2.0 and in a kind of unique way. These videos were so cool...

But the interior design of this house looks so terrible the colours don't really fit and and I remember this yellow/blue combination from that time and and wanted to style my room like that too. But than I got into interior design and felt ashamed about my former taste

C'mon, things may have changed for him or maybe his wife wanted a change. He does a lot for his home state and I do believe NJ is important to him.

Maybe things happened in his private life that made him change, things we don't know about. Maybe Richie leaving changed him a lot. We don't know. From the lyrics I think his life is far from this 'perfect picture' he is selling.

YOVANAfromPeru 07-19-2019 01:25 AM

JBJ made a joke like a 5 months ago: “It’s only a matter of time before all the New Jersey guys come down to Florida” and then I thought he already has a new Palm Beach house and it’s under construction

Nige 07-19-2019 10:48 AM

Also all his children will have, or will shortly be moving out and it'll feel empty without them there. Lots of parents move to smaller places when their children have gone.

Totally agree about the decor...that living room is quite hideous!

Yeah, that house needs to be completely redecorated. It just screams eighties/early nineties styling. If I'd have 20 million to spend on housing there's no way I'd spend it on that. I've seen far more beautiful houses at better locations.

I'd say they wanted it to look like a castle from victorian times. How anyone would love to live in such a place, I don't get it but each one to her or his own. But man, the living room looks so ugly:-D

Lucky0003 07-20-2019 12:19 AM

So if Jon is not buried under a tree on his NJ estate, there will be no “Graceland” for him. Guess he won’t be like Elvis.

Yeah, but this is the Victorian times mixed with typical American eighties, early nineties design. A lot of wood, drapes and pastel colors everywhere. It's as if time stood still in that interior. And non of it seems to match particularly well either.

I think we can agree that this place is not really worth the time or money to redecorate:-D

JBJ loves gold and blue.

Walleris 07-20-2019 12:34 PM

Please don't tell me this is because he has another NFL ownership attempt being planned. He can do whatever he wants with his money (and with his assets, such as his mansion), but as a fan, I don't want more long tours of terrible shows.

I like gold and blue too, just not as curtains combined with awful looking dusty carpets and sofas and some old-fashioned wood

Notre Dame's colors are blue and gold; but I don't know if Jon was a fan before Jesse played there.

MIDDLETOWN - Is Jon Bon Jovi the latest New Jersey millionaire to flee to Florida? Media reported the rocker bought a five-bedroom oceanfront villa in Palm Beach for $10 million last March. And now his 18,000-square-foot Middletown mansion is up for sale. The price is only available "by request," and you can bet the realtor won't consider us a serious buyer for the 15-acre estate gloriously perched on the Navesink River. You can't blame Bon Jovi for heading south; it was reported the Middletown estate carried $281,477 in property taxes last year. And the property taxes on the 6,000-square-foot home in Florida? Just $46,466 last year, plus no state income tax for full-fledged residents. Any shrewd kid from Sayreville can do the math on this one.

Awesome property!
Awful interior!

Perhaps we have grounds for a class-action lawsuit for false advertising!

That's not shrewdness -- that's piloting a public relations kamikaze mission.

If Jon couldn't wait to put up the house for sale until after the This House Is NOT For Sale tour (which would have made him look foolish enough), then he's either hurting for money (that he didn't earn enough of from the tour?); getting terrible advice; or getting good advice that he isn't taking.

The only thing Jon did shrewdly is finish second to Cardi B's lying her way through her pregnancy this year.

cranberry 08-11-2019 06:04 PM

His kids don't want to live there, they all live in New York, which is understandable. Jesse said in an interview that his father's house looks like a museum, which is accurate. That property must cost them a real fortune to maintain+taxes and they don't live there anymore. Rich people don't like to own properties that just drain them financially. It became a liability for them instead of an asset. This doesn't necessarily mean he hurts for money. It may be that he manages money and property in a business mind frame.

phoenixy 08-13-2019 08:11 PM

New song: This House is Up For Sale (same song with a twist, but the same rhythm still works).

rolo_tomachi 08-13-2019 09:46 PM

It seems good to me to sell that mansion. I never liked it, Jon had too much conford recording all those albums for a whole decade. This will make record in different studios, that's something. Now we just need J. Shanks to walk away.

They didn't record THINFS there either, didn't change the overall sound much either.

Maybe not at that time. But maybe now or on the next records ... could happen. Now have more probabilities.

Captain_jovi 08-14-2019 07:11 AM

Your time lines are off, since Shanks starting getting involved the recorded in NJ less and less. A lot of recording in various studios, mostly Henson Studios in LA.

Xavi 08-14-2019 02:06 PM

Cmon,we all know that the new album will be very similar to the last ones

What happened to the critical, realistic rolo we used to have here in around 2013? Did someone take over your account?[emoji12]

Looks like people think in the song This House Is Not For Sale when they read this news
I actually relate it more with the song Who Says You Can’t Go Home with all the New Jersey thing behind and also I remembered the whole drama JBJ made when he moved from NJ to NY around the Lost Highway era...

I think millionaire people have more than one house, beside their steady house another ones for vacations on the beach, camp, etc./special occasions, let’s say Christmas, summer, etc. JBJ has said he spend more time in his Hampton house now...

That’s why I said before the new album is going to be called The Hampton Album (no, I’m kidding on this one!)

mmm, I guess I'm assuming the decadency.

Shit, I'm just saying that he has done many albums in recent years, at some point he should be right with something that will change everything again. It probably won't happen, we will only get 2 or 3 tracks ok, but I still can't help getting excited about the new music that will come. You know, what could be but won't happen.

For me there are 3 stages: 84-90, 92-96, 2000- until now. Need a new stage.

I'm also very interested in Richie's new album, but something tells me that it might take longer to see the light.

In short, I just want to gobble up new music, and I'm tired of expecting always the worst.
