The begining of Brothers in Arms is also a John Fogertys "Born On The Bayou" rip off.

2020: The New Album
Quote:
I love the “unplugged” version of Atlantic city. 68,000 copies world wide. That’s savage. On a side note I’ve not listened to the album for about a month. I’ll go back to it at some point. Still like Blood in the water, Luv Can and Lower the flag. Just too many other albums with songs I like a lot more to listen to. Really into the new Bruce album and looking forward to this Friday with new Ac/DC I got the ltd edition picture vinyl coming. I was also lucky enough to get the record store day release of Skid Rows 1991 classic Slave to the Grind on double Red vinyl with 4 bonus tracks. So that is on heavy rotation. New Foo fighters song is decent as well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Hmm, I don't know. Yes, Let It Rain is similar to that Bruce song, but it's only the chords for me and maybe the way the drum kicks in. But LIR has more chords, a melody on top of it, and the verses aren't the same, either. So I find it a bit of a stretch to call it a carbon copy.
Same thing for Unbroken. Yes, the melody is similar in parts to Beethoven's 9th symphony, but dissimilar in others. And that melody has been around for centuries, so anyone knows it and could therefor come up with something similar, because it's stuck in the back of everyone's head. Not that it would be illegal to rip that one off, because it's too old, or would it? ;-) Back to LIR: I absolutely *love* the "take a look around" line. Not especially for the lyrics, but for how the melody goes and how it goes back to a major chord (I'd say G, but haven't checked). My favorites by far are Blood On The Water, Brothers In Arms and Let It Rain. I have a sweet spot for Story Of Love and Shine and can appreciate Lower The Flag, Unbroken and American Reckoning for what they are. Oh, and DWYC is too catchy not to love it, especially the duet version ;-) |
Overall, the album has kind of dropped for me. Not that I especially dislike it, just haven't listened to it for two weeks (other than Blood The Water, Lower The Flag and Luv Can) and haven't felt the urge to go back to it thus far.
