So you've ripped it.............
Question for those who ripped it .....Will you now buy it?
Im not ripping it gonna buy it. |
I'm considering ripping it and buying it for $5 when it's in the same bin The Circle was in months after release. Only because I'm a completest.
|
Ripping = transferring the contents of a CD to a computer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ripping)
Downloading = downloading a leaked album from the internet You can't "rip" the album if you haven't got the CD. You can download it, though. Ice |

And my answer is - neither! I might stream it the odd 2-3 times once it's available on Spotify. |
I should have changed the word from ripped/downloaded to stole!

I don't have a CD player anywhere in my house, and the one in the car is broken.
Therefore I won't be purchasing the CD at any point..... |
Can the songs be bought separately on iTunes ?
Like it I wanted Water and I'm With You and not the rest. At the moment it says album only bu the rest of the Jovi albums allow you to buy the songs on their own. |
Downloaded it yesterday, got it today and will rip it later.
|
I might download it a few more times because I can.
In fact I may even burn it to a CD and sell it at my local bar. |
Of course I'm going to buy it, while it was downloading I went to my CD store, they told me that it was out on Monday, that they might have it but can't sell it. So, I'll have to wait until monday.

Absolutely buying it!!!! I think I could afford to spend 12 bucks on an album every 3+ years.
I don't think this album is as nearly as bad as most make it out to be. I'm glad I waited to listen to the completed songs before making my finial opinion because even with the 90 second snippets and live versions, I wasn't convinced. I will be completely happy once I get the final product with perfect sound. A real Bon Jovi fan owns all the albums and does not have downloaded stolen albums in their collection. I think you would appreciate the music more owning the physical CD anyway. Just My Opinion! As far as ripping it, I rip all my Bon Jovi music to keep the originals in good shape. |
No. I only spend my money on good albums.

I don't get the people who come here day after day, consider themselves diehards, and then don't purchase the album. But then on top of it, have the balls to complain about it.
That's like someone stealing a computer and then complaing to the manufacturer that they don't like certain features. Have some CHARACTER people! |

In my opinion a die-hard should own at least every official release! How can someone say "I'm a die-hard but I only own 7 albums because the remaining 5 suck"? or "I'm a die-hard but my collection was downloaded illegally"? There is also a fine line between stating an opinion on something you don't like and the constant harping on something you don't own. If you listened to the album and don't like it, you absolutely have every right to state an opinion. However, there are people who download it illegally and make comments like they own it. I have a problem with credibility when it comes to someone stating something surrounding certain factors when they don't officially own the thing. Maybe I'm old school but again, it comes down to Character! |

The person who doesn't own a CD player wants to download the leaked version in shitty quality. My suggestion was to pay the 9.99 to get it in better quality from i-tunes |

One listen and they give up. Sometimes albums need to grow on people. You get accustomed to listening to one thing or you are expecting something else. I hated DA when it first came out. I wanted Blaze Of Glory 2. I put it away after one listen. Now it's one of my favorite albums. If you're a die-hard fan of the band. You'll buy the album. Listen to it for an extended amount of time before giving up. I'd bet that 90% of the people who complain around here don't even own the albums. |
I'll be buying it on Monday, hopefully
|
Amazon's just sent my CD

Theres fans on here who followed the band from before I was born and some of them don't like / own the new material. That doesn't make them any less of a fan. If they think the new album is crap, why would they waste their money on it ? If I watch an illegal Bluray download of "The Dark Knight Rises", I can make as good a critique on its quality as the person who bought the disc, it doesn't matter if its right or wrong to download. Blind love for the band no matter what they put out is just stupid. |
Another pole, yay :|

I never said that you need to like 100% of everything but you should own at least every official album, like it or not. If you don't like anything from 2000 forward and don't own anything you are no longer a fan as far as I'm concerned. You were a fan up until 2000 and are now just a fan of the older catalog. I would not consider that person a die-hard fan. As far as your The Dark Knight Rises analogy goes, I never said that you can't make an opinion if you listen to the album. I said that there is a fine line of an opinion verses someone who is always bitching and complaining about an album they don't own. Bottom Line - There is no official definition of a Die-Hard Fan. But A true fan supports their band by owning every official release legally. After 30 years, if this band gave me a bad release, I'm not going to turn my back on them because they gave me 29 other good ones. Once you no longer feel that way, you are no longer a die-hard fan. Even If I hated WAN, I would still buy it because A. I would be stealing it if I didn't B. This is the only 1 purchase that I feel is necessary to support a band. C. I want to give the album a chance D. There are always highlights in each album and as a Die-Hard I still find it somewhat enjoyable If you flat out hated the last 3 albums, you are no longer a current fan which makes you now longer a die-hard. If you think that they are just ok, you should own them. |

WAN is not even close to "sounds of me shitting in the bathroom" To get back to a realistic adult conversation, one of the 100 reasons why I'm a fan is becasue of Bon Jovi's consistency. They always deliver a decent to great product every time. However I will make the one exception for Sexx Att, if a title does comes out "sounds of me shitting in the bathroom" you have my permission to not purchase that release without any ramifications. |

Downloaded the leak yesterday but of course will still buy it. Typically buy albums off iTunes, but most likely will buy a physical copy to share with Mom.
|
Aloha !
Downloaded it, listened to it once, then turned it off by the time I'd reached the bonus tracks. Won't buy it, and I have to be in a really good mood to buy a second hand copy. The 3,50 I'd have to spend on it I feel is better spend on something else that I actually do like. Quote:
But, according to your fine criteria I'm not a die hard, because I don't like the new music. When it comes to "supporting" this band, I think I can say I've done my fair share of it. I get tired of people on here slamming others for not liking what they like and saying they're not a fan because I don't live up to their standards. Because really, if we're measuring what defines a die hard by the amount of support people show for them I think it's fair to say I've supported this band than many other people who have been there from the beginning, and I doubt you've spend as much money, time and energy on this band, despite, according to you, having followed them from the beginning. Everyone supports this band in their own way, so stop being so judgemental of other peoples motives when there's no legimate reason for it apart from your gut feeling. Thank you very much. With the exeption of things that suck. Not buying such is the only way to send a message back. Officially own? Sheesh. You know you can listen to things you don't own, legally. At a friends place and so on. So from my point of view such listener is very much allowed to form an opinion, and even dislike. But I'll try to keep in mind that there are people like you who think that opinions can only be based on bought items. Stupid, but now I know you are out there. Not that it makes any difference to me or the way I form my opinions. Once again you bring up CHARACTER. Something that person who buys everything that has certain name on it on autopilot certainly doesn't show. Maybe I'm old school, but I just think that money should be earned, not given out based on just a name on a cover. |
Quote:
Anyway you can be a real fan and not buy the new stuff if you don't like it, I'm ok with that. |
Oh, and after quick look the leak is actually available already here and there as "flac". So, i-tunes-superior-quality-person, what next?
And no, didn't grab it. I don't enjoy it so I don't bother getting it. |
I condem every person who has been downloading it illegally. You people are contributing to the music industry going the way it is. I have never illegally downloaded an official purchase. I have bought every Bon Jovi album I own.
I just think its a bit sad and pathetic that people cannot wait a few days, and as Rdkopper says, make a proper judgement of the finished article in perfect quality. Some people just have no patience at all. If the finished article sucks, then that's fine. We'd have given it chance. But people passing judgement on some ropey download is fallible. You only have to wait a few more hours! |
Aloha !

But I reckon you've got every single b-side originally as well, just like everyone else who has an MP3 of Fields Of Fire or the original studio version of Starting All Over Again on their hard drive despite it only having been released on special editions in 1995 and 1992. And haven't you just said you've downloaded it but won't buy it? Guaranteed you won't be the only one. Get off your high horse. |
Aloha !

And yeah, I said I downloaded it but won't buy it. Because I think it's shit. I wouldn't have bought it would I not have downloaded it either. This makes no difference to the current situation of record companies and sales going down the drain. I am sure there's people that will download it, keep it, listen to it yet won't buy it, but you won't find them on a Bon Jovi messageboard. Therefore condemning people on here is rather pointless. Salaam Aleikum, Sebastiaan |
Why the hell should I feel ashamed not buying the new album when a concert ticket costs £80+? They're more or less adding the cost of three CDs onto the price of a normal stadium show.
The cheeky ****ers should be glad we can't pirate the live shows somehow. |
