New RCHP single ... very tiny sample

http://www.redhotchilipeppers.com/news/news.php?uid=141

A very very small sample of the new Red Hot Chili Peppers single Dani California, its right at the end of the nicely edited but incredibly sycophantic video

spunkywho 03-12-2006 12:33 AM

ohhhh, I can tell I am going to love this one :D

I want to marry Kiedis - so bad..... (edited: pointing out that this is a metaphor and I am not some sicko wanting a rock from da man)

Thanks Walrus!

A little bit of topic here... Did anyone of you buy their last album, the double live album from hyde park... I bought and man it really sucked... I love the chili peppers and like the slane castle DVD but it seems like Kiedis voice just keeps on getting worse when it comes to performing...

Yeah I got it, and while I don't think it sucked I have to say it didn't overly impress me ... I think that a large part of their live appeal is visual, which could have something to do with it

spunkywho 03-12-2006 07:42 PM

I have it, but haven't watched it yet - but I think WAlrus is right on about the show being a multi faceted one. Kiedis has always had a shitty voice - not sure if it ever was any better than on that DVD...

A little tiny bit more of the new song at the end of this video

Stut 04-03-2006 01:02 PM

has the video for Dani California. MTV Premiere is tomorrow. Pretty good song even though I´m not a huge RHCP fan. Crappy quality though.

Captain Walrus 04-07-2006 12:28 PM

Saw the full video on TV. The song is a very chilled out. sunny sounding song ... it's not immediate like By The Way and is kinda a grower I think. Reasonable outro solo although nowt stunning. The video is pretty good, it amuses me to see John having fun, but I don't think its as good as earlier videos .... In short, I'm hopeful about this album, but slightly apprehensive too

SamboraQueen21 04-07-2006 06:16 PM

i actually woke up to see the video today on mtv. it's different... but aren't they a little old to be playing dress up??

UKjovi 04-07-2006 06:22 PM

Heard this song on wednesday and love it

spunkywho 04-07-2006 06:36 PM

I love l o v e LOVE L O V E the peppers :D

Love the video - love it!!!

As for playing dress-up - isn't that what makes the peppers the peppers? They've always played dress up and if they stopped, they might as well stop making music... It defines them.

Lol - if that was when Flea decided clothes were optional then it was completely spontaneous and none of the bandmembers knew what he was up to until they entered the stage :)

What????????????

Not Old_Just Older 04-08-2006 11:40 AM

Woodstock was a great chili peppers gig... I mean they played my favorite song "my lovely man" and that Flea was naked didnt bother me at all beacause its flea he is always naked... Plus Kiedis sounded good for most parts...

TheseDays2005 04-14-2006 08:05 PM

****in great song (&vid)!! Didn't like their last album by the way (like the majority of the fanbase) but this sounds very good again. Cannot wait for the release of the new DOUBLE!! album Stadium Arcadium, first week of may
Def. my fav band

couldnt agree more

Alphavictim 04-14-2006 09:09 PM

I agree as well - especially the "might as well stop making music" part, as I NEVER got why they should be so good and whatnot

allmike 04-17-2006 07:55 AM

They are playing regularly on music channels here... really love the song and video.. they still rock !!!!!

UKjovi 04-17-2006 09:31 AM

From what ive heard of the chilis live, Kiedis looks and sounds as if he struggles with most songs. What do you guys think?

What do you mean? Vocal range wise? It's a fact that Kiedis can't sing - he says so himself and he will also point out that the ability to sing has no bearing on one being a great frontman neither does it make a band not good. The chilis are not about perfectly melodic vocals.

Mr Bluesman 04-17-2006 03:50 PM

I don't like the song, if you ask me, it's boring. I don't like the latest Chilis' stuff. The old funky Chilis is where it's at. The video, however, is great!

He sounds OK to good doesnt struggle though (watch the AOL sessions, 2002 & 2006), but since Californicatin and especcialy since By the way the guitarist (who sounds awesome live btw) has more present backing vocals wich makes it all sound better.. it are the other band members that makes the live show really. I do prefer them over BJ nowadays

Neurotica80 04-18-2006 12:19 PM

Good video, average song. Although this is coming from a very casual RHCP fan

Captain Walrus 04-18-2006 01:42 PM

As I said it would, it is kind of growing on me ... the outro solo is cool, I love the way it goes into the signature Frusciante electric distortion sound at the end (thats obviously not the technical term, heh). Some nice hooks throughout the song too

Not Old_Just Older 04-18-2006 08:26 PM

Fruciante got a wondeful voice... I love his voice live and he really covers for Kiedis in many songs when they perform...

TheseDays2005 04-19-2006 11:09 PM

btw on several RHCP boards they are saying Anthony is imitating JBJ at one point, some saying the whole band is imitated. I dont see but apparantly its there

Nope they ain't. I've obsessed over it and there ain't no BJ in it :p What exactly do RHCP fans know about BJ anyway? ;)

I know what you mean - it's the new california style - melodic and radiofriendly. I don't think there will ever be the old funky peppers again...
