Clear night last night and the moon was very bright, so I went outside about 1:15am to take a couple of photo's :p

I wish my camera had better manual settings, can only currently take 16 second shots so don't really pick up a lot.

You should be happy that you at least can catch a few stars on you photo, which is nearly impossible in the area I live because of lightpolution ;). It ain't fun to live in a city in the most light poluted province of the most light poluted country in the world :(. On bright nights with a new moon we can maybe see about 5 stars in the sky with the bare eye...

16 secs is about the max shutterspeed to not get visible startrails on your pic btw :). I like your moon :).

Well in that first star picture there you can see it creeping in at one edge, partially because the moon was so bright off to that side, I couldn't enhance it much without it getting too bad.

Like this you mean?

I did manage to get one last night that I could enhance enough without the brightness of the moon affecting it.

Yup :) the trails get really visible between 15 and 30 secs shutterspeed.

I'm looking for a new camera, when I can afford it, which will probably be early next year now, and I haven't really looked much yet, but I was looking at the Nikon D50 because it has a very good burst mode setting (2.5fps up to max 137 shots) which I'd love for all the panoramic shots I take, but the maximum shutter speed is 30 seconds, and I'd prefer one with a much longer shutter speed to get shots like those you've posted of the stars. I won't really be able to afford anything much, but it'd be better than what I have now, which I'd class as absolute bottom entry level (it has a fixed lens for one, and no full manual mode) I need to read up on them though first, find out about all the different types of lenses, I don't have much of a clue about it really but would like to get into photography more so would like a better camera to give me more control over what I shoot.
