Live In Japan '85 DVD Overdubbing?

I just watched the Tokyo Road: Live In Japan '85 DVD, and I was wondering if there was any overdubbing done? I know it's not an official release, but during the performance Jon is talking about how the concert was being filmed? The reason I ask about overdubs is because there are many instances when Jon's mouth is nowhere near the microphone, yet you can hear his voice. Like-wise, sometimes his mouth is moving, but the words don't match or there is no sound whatsoever.

Here's an example:

Look at around the 3:39 mark. Just looks a bit phoney to me. This happens a few times throughout the performance.

Thanks for any info!

Yes it is heavily dubbed. Just look at Only Lonely. Nevertheless great show though.

Well, back that far back, it seems like Jon did a lot of "overdubbing" and pre-recordings during live shows. Jon has stated numerous times that he doesn't believe in that, but it's very obvious during LOAP. Now... Hitting those high notes isn't easy, but it is so obvious when he goes WHOOAAAAAA OHHHHHH, it's pre-recorded in the background.

As for this show, it seems to be right around the time where I saw the video for LOAP being overdubbed. Anyhow, the performances are great, I just wish he would change it up rather than lip syncing.

At least now he sings his songs straight-up.

Jason F.
