Rocking in the free world / August 7

i was listening to the original studio version of neill young playing ROcking in the free world and i noticed that August 7th has a lot of parts that sound very much the same
especialy when august 7 is played live. for example the "tonight there's an angel upon heavens highest hill".
Do you think that musicly ( not lyricly because lyricly it's a about that hit and run) jon had rocking in the free world in his head while writing it?
or am i just seeing things here.

I thought that too...and if you listen to Never Say Die from Blaze Of Glory it sounds way too much like The Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy.

Aloha !

August 7 has got about the same chord scheme and the solo Jon plays in that song is about the same as the one he plays in Free World live. Both are great songs but it's a bit a ripp off.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Never noticed but I love RITFW by Neil Young. I'm always jamming along on my bass to it. :)

I think me and Sebastiaan went through this not too long ago.
