No, the way his right eye has a twitch when he sings now. It's been noticeable for the last 3-4 years I'd say but seems to be getting worse.

'On A Night Like This' with the close up shots really made it look worse.

Oh yeah, I’ve noticed this a lot as well. Blood In The Water was especially painful at that show.

Are you implying that Jon had some degree
of a neurological condition?

It's funny, a friend of mine said to me that his trouble singing in sync with the rythm and his face getting weird sometimes reminded him of ischemic stroke.

Maybe. I'm no doctor or anything so I couldn't say but something isn't right.

IMO it is solely a breathing problem, look at the way he "breathes" when he has an higher note to sing, like he couldn't get enough air breathing normally but he has to lift his chest to gain air. The Twitch of his eye has Always been there when he's had some straining during singing, you can find It in 87 and 03-05 in some rare moments.

It's been there but this is much worse now. Whether it's an age thing or a vocal problem (getting that high note out) I don't know.

His breathing technique is shocking, though.

It has now been suggested that Jon is deaf, psychologically traumatised from Richie's departure that it has caused psychosomatic problems, can't breathe, and has neurological damage.

Could it just be that his vocal cords are damaged to the point that he can no longer sing?

We all know his voice is shit. We're talking about an eye twitch that's got worse over the years.

If his vocal chords were simply damaged he would just sound strained like in 87, he completely changed his tone since 2017. In 2015 you could still hear that jbj tone, just thinner.

Something happened to his health - I have no idea what could that be.

Maybe even just a septum deviation, it completely changes the air flow inside the nose and changes how the vocal chords interact with the air and how it produces sound.

It's even tied to the quality of the air, like getting warm vs. cold air and that dynamic. I'm speculating on this side because I had a surgery and it changed my singing voice a little bit.

My septum deviated again and now I can't sing and getting to breathe between words is way more difficult.

I think, for the most part, his changed vocal tone is due to his singing technique.

It seems like he's afraid to project the notes properly - maybe because he's afraid of going off-key or his voice cracking - so he's placing the sound at the back of his throat rather than projecting it forward.

Based on what he's said about having self-doubts, I think the way his voice started deteriorating physically in 2013 made him lose his confidence in himself and his vocal abilities (and it made the little flaws in his singing technique that had already been there since the 2000s come out much stronger), so now he's trying to play it safe - except he's just making it harder for himself with that singing technique he's using. Also the fact that he writes a lot more in his mid-range nowadays really isn't helping, because that's the weakest part of the human singing voice, and neither is the fact that he doesn't pronounce the words properly. He also always seems very tense while he's singing, which just fuels the other issues even more.

Obviously physically his voice isn't what it used to be anymore either, but I think if he changed his technique - particularly the way he projects the sound and pronounces the lyrics - his vocal tone would probably be a lot more like what he sounded like in around 2015 than what he sounds like now.

Mosft of us probably agree that Jon is embarrasing himself vocally. It's been happening for a long time and will likely continue and get worse into the future. One question I have for people who know more about singing than I do is:

Does Jon have anywhere to go? It looks like he is dones as a rock singer, but would his voice hold up singing other types of songs? Crooner songs, for example.

Or, is this simply a voice that is broken across the board?

Yes.

If you want proof, here's as simple of an example as Jon shouting "Are you still with me out there?" during Bad Medicine in Rio 2013:

https://youtu.be/0ooDtMhEI6s?t=5578

And here's him delivering the same phrase 6 - SIX - years later at the same place during the same moment of the same song:

https://youtu.be/WznBpQfyOJQ?t=5740

Speculate all you want, but in my opinion it's clear as a day that Jon isn't healthy. I doubt very strongly that he can last another full-length tour during the rest of his life.
