I think jon is not right on this one. he could make money and also invest on the bands legacy by working and releasing certain live shows..

I don't think Jon is right but I also don't think Jon is capable of pulling this off without a strong team behind him. He's knee-deep in the wine world when the pandemic could have been spent rebuilding a fanbase online. I just don't think he cares and to get a team to do it costs $$ and requires someone on the inside that knows what's already out there and I'm not confident the infrastructure knows what's been done.

To rephrase, it can be done but needs someone who gives a shit.

This! They don't give a shit about stuff the die-hards like to get.

But still, I don't think their archives are that massive the way we imagine.
For almost 40 years now we never really got special live stuff. I don't talk about the DVD releases which were recorded on purpose. I talk about live recordings no one ever knew they existed. There are maybe a handful of exceptions (just like the 2006 show on Sirius). Even the live b-sides they used to release on the singles mostly were taken from recordings by anyone else but the band - even the OWN album mostly consists of that kind of songs (I think Supersonic once wrote a longer posting about it a couple of years ago).
So even 20-30 years ago, during a time where the band and Jon (and the record company) seemed to care about their music and their fanbase much more, they always chose the most simple way. And to me it's hard to believe that it's always been a matter of money or a matter of not wanting to put some work and effort in it. After all those years I really think that they don't have that cupboard full of live recordings like they wanted us to believe when introducing the Experience.

I was under the impression shows were recorded and mixed down for watching after. I could swear someone said something in an interview that they used to watch the show after to see what worked on/what went wrong.

I don't know when that started or stopped but at the very least you'd think they have just the basic camera feeds taped for a handful of shows.

Yeah, I think it was Mike Rew during a backstage video on the HAND tour. I remember seeing something like that, too. Since the leaked stage camera recordings from the NJ and KTF tour that allegedly came from Alec's vault we know that this stuff got recorded.
But I'm not sure that they keep them in their archives. If they record them to just analyse the show afterwards, there's no need to keep them any longer.

Hmmm Jon's commentary of that show on the Bounce tour and that Florida show kind of make it interesting. I don't know what reason they were taped. It could just be terrible organization and labeling to the point where the Box Set was just Obie guessing. That kind of shows how bare bones the organization is when there's no third party group hired.

These were probably just single track mixes straight from the desk on the night, rather than multitrack recordings. There will be flaws in those recordings and I expect that they don't want to release anything that wasn't recorded in multi track and they can mix properly (or as it seems so far, have already been mixed). Sucks really, as fans those desk mixed would be fantastic to hear.

the show has started:

-It's My Life
-Blood On Blood (Intro Acoustic)
-Keep The Faith
-I'll Sleep When I'm Dead / Jumpin Jack Flash (Snippet)
-Bad Medicine / Shout

A show that short and they still cut songs, jesus.

It's amazing how the people running this band destroy everything that could have potential.

First The Experience and now Sirius. Even combined, they both suck.

I also love how this Obie Character tries to make these sound interesting by putting a spin on it... "The first this and first that"

He also speaks with a wet pallet and it's fuxking annoying.
