Atlantic City Expressway Reunion Show

The Atlantic City Expressway is scheduled to perform a reunion show Oct. 15 at Harry's Roadhouse in Asbury Park as a fund-raiser to benefit people affected by Rett Syndrome, a neurological disorder. Past incarnations of The Atlantic City Expressway, who have not performed as a group in more than 20 years, have included a number of recognizable names in the New Jersey music scene. Those names include Bon Jovi frontman Jon Bon Jovi, Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan and Al Chez, trumpeter with the David Letterman Band.

Both Bryan and Chez are scheduled to take part in the Oct. 15 benefit, along with founding band members Wil Hercek (vocals, guitar); Rick Cyr (saxophone); Ed Horne (bass); Jeff Kinder (drums); and Bill Frank (lead guitar). Hercek, Horne, Kinder and Frank currently perform with the Bad Willie Band.

The Expressway was a vehicle for then-teenager Jon Bongiovi, formerly of Sayreville and now of *****, to cut his teeth and experiment with rhythm and blues. Before long, the 10-piece act featured a dynamic horn ensemble and began ripping it up in clubs all along the Jersey Shore. The band was known for playing a mixture of R&B chestnuts and covers of Bruce Springsteen and Asbury Jukes songs, according to show promoter Scott Stamper, who graduated Sayreville War Memorial High School along with Bongiovi.

The Harry's Roadhouse show will also feature the funk-rock band Mas Mojo. Tickets are $20 and will be sold online and at the club at 662 Cookman Ave. For more information, go to http://www.harrysroadhouse.com, http://www.rettsyndrome.org or call (732) 547-5404.
