In regards to ticket sales, there's 2 issues:
1. Scalpers are worse than ever. It amazes me that you can now buy tickets from them on ticketmaster. That tells me that it's just accepted practice now. Verified reseller my ass. 2. Tickets are just too damn expensive. Especially the floor seats. For Boston, which is just over a month away, the floor is only about half sold. |

They should have included a free digital download code at least.

All down to the copies that come with ticket sales apparently....I find it strange that CD sales like this are eligible for the charts...isn't it somewhat cheating?

I think it’s good marketing for artists who want people to know the new music when they come to the shows. It certainly makes sense in an age where people hardly buy new music and only know the singles/hits.

Yes, my comments were aimed at the pratice in general, not at Bon Jovi specifically...
I totally agree about it encouraging people to listen to the new music, but if I was running the charts I wouldn't allow them to be chart elegible as people don't buy the album of their own free will, it's thrust upon them, and a lot of the people buying tickets will already have the album anyway... And if a couple go to the show together then the end up with 2 copies when they would normally only need the one...if it's a fmaily then 3, 4 or more copies, so it doesn't provide genuine sales figures... |
The CDs really aren’t forced on anyone. You have to claim the offer and you don’t have to claim the total number you are entitled to claim. I was eligible for 8, so I got them all. Last time, I was eligible for 9 and claimed 0.
