The Simpsons

Best episode?

I'd say

Homer's Enemy - Everyone knows a "Grimey" lol
King Size Homer - Just for the "fat guy" hat
The Springfield connection
Homer Vs New York

Anything from seasons 3-10 are decent.

ticos_stick 06-22-2011 09:37 PM

“Last Exit to Springfield”

“Homer the Great”

“Homer Loves Flanders”

there's a near-decade run that's amongst the greatest television of all time. should have been cancelled a few seasons ago however.

Recently I was enjoying that episode where Homer gets addicted to medicinal marijuana. and Flaming Moe's is a good 'un! Classic stuff.

ticos_stick 06-22-2011 11:24 PM

It got shit around 2004.

The animation is better now, but it's trying to be too much like Family Guy which is a terrible show IMO.

WHAT?!?!?!

EDIT: There's only so many exclamation and question marks because of the stupid 10 character limit.

I think it's utter shit.

There's no narrative, just a series of "zany" incidents and "off the wall" characters"

I think a child could write it.

I love Family Guy, but this past season hasn't been the best. The Simpsons were brilliant throughout throughout the 90's and early 00's. I love the movie, but it is trying to replicate Family Guy too much.

One show I do really like is Bob's Burgers. That's a hilarious show.

ticos_stick 06-23-2011 01:26 AM

Saw a few of Bob's Burgers. I thought it was pretty good.

The best animation on at the moment is The Ricky Gervais show.

Crushgen24/88 06-23-2011 07:31 AM

Best television show of all-time, easily. Seasons 3-12 (yeah, I like the Mike Scully era) are ****ing brilliant. It's been dodgey since, but they do turn out really good episodes a few times a season..

Family Guy does have a narrative! I think the story lines are fairly coherent, yeah they're a bit daft, but there's a proper story built in there.

And i don't know how you can criticise Family Guy for not having a narrative when The Ricky Gervais show is just a serious of rants from the man with a head like a fvcking orange! Okay, i love The Ricky Gervais show but my point still stands...

Your point is invalid my friend.

The Ricky Gervais Show isn't meant to have a story line. It is billed as three blokes sitting around talking about stuff.

I just find Family Guy far too scatter shot and deliberately offensive for it's own good. It's more of a sketch show than anything.

Yeah you're right you called me on that one haha.

But I still think Family Guy is one of the best TV shows, has me in absolute tears everytime and I'm pretty picky over my comedy.

That's fair enough, whatever lifts your skirt :p

Seasons 3-13 are ridiculously good.

I can't pick out a highlight episode because there are too many great ones. Season 5/6 are standouts, though.

Yup, I have those boxsets, don't think there's one bad episode in those seasons.

Neurotica80 06-24-2011 01:12 AM

Flanders: welcome to your new home, neglecterinos!

I believe the title of one of my favorite episodes was "Brother from Another Series." It was the one where David Hyde Pierce played Sideshow Bob's brother. I'm a big fan of Frasier, esp DHP, so I have a soft spot for that episode.

Miracle 06-24-2011 06:26 AM

Homer at Bat is one of my all time favourite episodes. So is the one with the Monorail (I call the big one Bitey) and the X-Files themed episode.

Crushgen24/88 06-24-2011 07:16 AM

Honestly, I can't even begin to pick out any single episodes. SO many classics.

Agreed, the David Mirkin era is the best.

KeepTheFaith2211 09-26-2012 12:31 AM

Has anyone ever seen the Tracy Ullman shorts? I watched most of them that I could find on YouTube a few weeks back and while they're obviously very raw, I loved it.

sammy645 10-03-2012 10:04 AM

Love season 3-9, some of the best comedy of all time.

The new episode was quite bad though

Iceman 10-03-2012 10:25 AM

Missionary:Impossible is great.

I have the DVD boxes for the first ten seasons, but I plan to buy the rest as well. I don't think it's gotten THAT bad, it's still one of the best comedy series on TV.

The movie was pretty bad, and I hate Family Guy.

Finally someone says it. I totally agree. I have season 1-14. I buy each boxset as it comes out. For sure, it has declined. But I think that's to to be expected.
