Neurotica...

I was telling Goose... I think one of the dumbest things Bon Jovi has ever done was not officially releasing Neurotica and leaving it as a demo for Crush. Damn them... The song is so awesome. I can imagine it live too. It's great. So why didn't they put it on Crush? So many great demos could take the place of the bad songs on the record. She's A Mystery is my least favorite Bon Jovi song ever. If Neurotica had been on it, I would have much more respect for it. The lyrics sound like the could have been written back in the 80's... It's got a great full, good riff, vocals are ok, drums are really cool. So what was the problem? Why couldn't it have been on the record? :?

Like I didn't know that Jim.. You are a ****ing genius.. I want an explanation on whats wrong with it and why it didn't make the album. I wanna know what others think. It's a messege board. Without meaning to be harsh, your answer was complete bullshit.

Well I personally think that the song is awesome and should've been on the album, and even as a single, but maybe the reason is that the song maybe sounds to like a party 80's tune??? but then again One wild night is on the album so the only thing i know is I don't know sh*t

But I want to understand WHY, you aren't telling me or even giving me a reasonable answer for it. That's all I am asking. I want to know what the people think, not the record label.

elle200 01-29-2004 05:12 AM

Yeah....

...that Jim gave a very laissez-faire answer.

BJ has always missed the mark on demos being on albums. Some include:

- Wedding Day
- Now and Forever
- Another Reason to Believe
- Postcards from the Wasteland
- The End
- I Talk To Jesus
- Save A Prayer
- Edge of a Broken Heart

I could go on. Instead, we got stuck with "King of the Mountain" and "I got the Girl". Buy hey, a true fan sings along in his car anyway...(although I have to play Bounce with the windows up...the song's main stanza is kinda dorky.)

Tashjbj 01-29-2004 05:21 AM

It is a good song, but I'm sure they had their reasons not to release it.

J.F.Bon_Jovi 01-29-2004 06:02 AM

it`s

14th song in Crush Album...
(only Janpanese album...)

Neurotica80 01-29-2004 10:38 AM

Well it should have at least been on the official album track listing. Like someone said theres loads of decent demos what should have made an album

It is a top tune though :D

Sambo-Chris 01-29-2004 10:47 AM

What's your problem? The song is released, you can get it.

Jim Bon Jovi 01-29-2004 02:31 PM

K last night I was tired and a little drunk hence no particular reasons for it but what i said still stands.

You don't need a reason for leaving something off an album whenit gets down to it but alot more goes into deciding what goes onto an album than whether it's a good song or not.

You've got to remember that veeryones opinion is subjective and the song writers r goign to be the harshest critics on it so maybe they didn't think it cut it or wouldn't make a decent single or just didn't fit in with the feel of the album.

I personally love I don't want to live forever but it sounds alot like just older cept that olders better hence why don't wanna live forever isnt on there.

that song wasnt be the first and wont be the last good demo not to reach the album fully. i think with neurotica they thought that they had two 'wacky' songs lyrics wise with that and CC...and opted for cc i guess.

DevilsSon 01-29-2004 07:05 PM

King of The Mountain is a great song!

*ºÇåptäîn¤Çrä§hº* 01-29-2004 08:34 PM

If any good demo makes the record there would be only crappy demos left for the b-sides...

Donna 01-29-2004 10:09 PM

If the truth would be told, I think the band regrets leavin it off the album.
Obie loves the song and would've put it it on there. But it's a hard decision making up the final set list for an album, hence the Pizza pie jury back in the day of SWW!
Leaving Nuerotica off was a question I brought up once at BJHQ actually and Jon answered and said that maybe they should ask the fans opinions next time and he would bear it in mind. nethertheless, it didn't happen unfortunately.

They don't play demo's live sweetie... :)

A couple of friends of mine had a banner about Neurotica throught the UK tour last year. I think the first one said "Play Neurotica", the next show the banner said "Play Neurotica if you think you're hard enough!" (this was made in the queue at 4am after 5 pretty sleepless nights - hence the wording LOL!). Jon saw this at the show and laughed at it whilst giving them a "you're brave" raised eyebrows kind of look! The next said "Please, please play Neurotica", and at Hyde Park it said "You guys rock even if you won't play Neurotica!" - which highly amused Richie! I don't think they ever expected the band to play it, it was just to let the guys know they'd have loved it if they felt like it! :)

I personally love the song and agree with Ryan that it would be amazing to hear live. Sadly it's not going to happen......

Jag 01-29-2004 11:23 PM

nothign stopping the band ever playing it live or putting it on a future album :)

Rob 01-30-2004 02:16 AM

It is the most moving Bon Jovi song, but I agree it does rock and would be great live. :)

Arash 01-30-2004 02:25 AM

its a good song, but i think there is a bunch of other demos from crush that i would like them more on the album instead of singles....

If Bon Jovi release a Demo Album, would be a multi platinium Album!
With some more demos like Starting All Over Again, THE CROSSROAD DEMOS, and a little more ...

Great story! Too bad they just didn't play a little of it (at least at Hyde Park cuz I got the boot for that  ).

They have had so many great demos that should have made the albums but then again what would they have taken off the albums to put them on? I agree with Anonymous BJ that if they put just the demos on an album they would have a huge hit!

Hehe cool story indeed. In Arnhem 2000 there was a guy or girl asking for Neurotica too on a banner, and Jon made a comment about it before the show started by saying "No Neurotica tonigh for sure." Or something like that. :)

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
