New Music on the way!

http://www.app.com/story/entertainme...ear/909228001/

"We’re going to put out a couple of new songs to share with you for the new year,” Bon Jovi said. “I think they’re pretty good. Just two tracks to support what we hope to be sharing with you in 2018.”

Not sure what this means, if its just two songs, or perhaps gearing up for something else! I wasn't overally impressed with THINFS but perhaps they can turn it around?

Thinny 12-01-2017 03:46 PM

I just hope it's not another Greatest Hits collection with 2 new songs....if they are touring Europe then they need some new product out. Will look forward to the new songs though...

rolo_tomachi 12-01-2017 04:56 PM

Maybe it's another rarities album? a double album with a lot of unrreleased songs of the last 30 years would be incredible.

That thought crossed my mind as well, though I don't think it's all that likely that the band would release a third GH compilation, especially since the last one only came out 7 years ago.

I know this is equally unlikely, but what if the new songs were part of an EP? The other 2-3 songs could be outtakes or live tracks?

Savvi 12-02-2017 02:13 AM

Doubt it's a Greatest Hits. They would only have two albums (WAN and THINFS) to add to their last one. Plus they've never been a band to pump out the compilation albums. Two major greatest hits albums for a 30 year career is pretty impressive.

My bet is new album sometime in the second half of the year.

Yep , i think an EP is likely too .... copying off RSO 😜

Rdkopper 12-02-2017 07:44 PM

I don't think it's a greatest hits because Jon doesn't get too excited for those...

An entire album would seem a bit much unless Jon's very good at multitasking...

Jon might be due for an album release per his contact so to back my theory as to why Phil is in the studio, maybe he's there to replace Richie's guitar parts on some older tracks...

Xavi 12-02-2017 07:53 PM

A re recorded album of their biggest hits with Phil,John and Everett like Scorpions did with "Comeblack"?

rolo_tomachi 12-02-2017 07:54 PM

I think it can be a special release for the fans, at least that's what I want. You know, 2CDs with 30 tracks, including rarities, unrreleased songs, and alternative takes like This Aint Love. In that regard, I think a lot of those songs would be from the last few years, and that's why Rage Of Angels could be included.

If they are finally included in the hall of fame, I can see this type of launches viable.

I don't think even autotune could pitch Jon back to the key change of Livin' On A Prayer or the chorus of Always

liljovi93 12-02-2017 09:49 PM

I think it's just two new songs to build a bit of promotion for the tour. Maybe they'll get a bug for a new album straight after the tour.

I'm not disagreeing with this theory because it's the most realistic but Jon was talking about the tour in regards to learning rarities... Why wouldn't he just say that he's releasing two new songs to support the tour?

There is more going on here. Usually when a band cranks out a couple of new tracks, it's in support of some type of compilation.

You can work wonders in the studio. Def Leppard re-recorded some of their tracks a few years ago and Joe Eliot's voice is nowhere near what it was either, but he sounded fantastic on the re-recordings....However, I don't think that's the route BJ are going. Thought, like RD, I would expect the 2 tracks to be part of some type of compilation or release...

True, imagine if Jon decided to leave the key change at the end of the demo version of Always on the studio version, he'll probably be dead right now.

Check out Phil's live on IG...he and Shanks are screaming "WE GOT HOPE(?)!" which according to them is a line of one of the new songs. And some chanting near the end which makes me guess one of the tracks is along the vein of WDR.

"WE CALL HOME" is what I heard, although it doesn't make a whole of of sense. Also the 'woah-oh-ohhh" chanting sounded really cool.

Grantos1 12-09-2017 09:54 AM

Didn't they have tracks left over from Burning Bridges and This House? Rage of Angels comes to mind, maybe a 2 disc version tour edition of This House will be released.

Snippet of one of the new songs. Sounds kinda ballady.

Captain_jovi 12-09-2017 10:54 AM

Really liking the full band is playing on it. Definitely a ballady vibe.

100 percent We Call Home.

Captain_jovi 12-09-2017 11:05 AM

Scratch that. After listening to the chord progression of the guitar part Phil was working on and the chanting I think it's the same song and might not be a WDR style rocker at all.

BonJovi100 12-09-2017 12:42 PM

So we heard 2 songs?

I think this might be he code cracker... Jon has never toured without promoting an album and Jon has never put out an album without touring it (Including GH and OWN Live - We'll call Blaze the exception)...If Jon's going to hit the road again, he wants to promote something to avoid the "nostalgic tour"

THINFS will be a year and a half old by the start of this next leg and past the point of promotion... Heck, Jon wrote the album a year prior to it's release... Jon's penning two new songs to go somewhere and to be played live.... He's not going to play demos or bsides so chances are, he's got some left over BB / THINFS tracks that he's going to put on the "Extended Version" of THINFS to support the final leg of this tour...

Damm, I love being smart...

CLEYoungGun21 12-09-2017 03:50 PM

That snippet of Phil laying down a guitar track sounds nice... The live stream John did with them recording the vocals sounds like 2 different songs to me

Full band? All I see (hear) is Shanks and Phil, and them talking to somebody named Spencer (?). Did I miss a clip somewhere?

John Shanks is the full band...

Shanks is a one man show... Not only is he a great musician but he's also great with technology... That's why Jon keeps his around...

Jon can lay down his vocals in a day and then have Shanks pretty much do the rest.

I'm hoping for one old school ballad with Jon hitting some high notes and another balls out rocker with both Phil and Shanks killing it on guitar...

liljovi93 12-09-2017 06:09 PM

I don't have Facebook so can't see these videos as it's asking for a log in.

Any chance someone can download the videos and send me them please??

And this pretty much sums up everything that is wrong with BJ in the studio today...the band should be the band!

Oh. THAT full band. Got it. :)

But isn't that the same full band that's played on everything in the past decade or so, except for NYE, maybe. I mean, color me skeptical, but I still find it strange that, with all the hype about how THINFS was a full band effort, the only specific reference to input from any band member was the Tico/Popeye story. There was the vague comment about how David stepped up to fill the gap left by Richie's departure, which Jon never explained except to say that it definitely wasn't writing. We know it wasn't vocals and I don't remember any production credits for DB. Phil-X did more to fill that gap, imo, than David did. At least he was brought in to overdub some guitar parts he didn't write, like Richie used to do. Otherwise, it still seemed like the Jon-John show to me.

Anyway, looks like Shanks is joined to somebody else's hip now. Guess that's what happens when your buddy comes to work for the company. Maybe the two of them will be able to give you the sound you guys are looking for. As far as I'm concerned, if it sounds like Bon Jovi I'm okay with it.

I was just being sarcastic in my last post... Sure there is some truth that John S takes on more being the one who is producing the tracks but I do think the band has relevant involvement...

When it comes to studio tracks, I'm okay with whatever. Ghost musicians have been used in studio work forever... Plus times have changed and the way music is made is much different... A lot of it depends on the certain song demands... Example, some songs might only need a basic drum beat and some might require a specific thump... As long as the Bon Jovi guys are still playing live, I'm forgiving when it comes to the studio work...

As far as Dave goes, I know first hand that it brought him and Jon closer together... Dave might have not been involved with writing due to the lack of chemistry but he absolutely did take on more with vocals... He also became more of a focal point within pictures, videos, and interviews...

rolo_tomachi 12-09-2017 09:42 PM

Let's wait for the music, new things, is pretty cool.

Oh, okay. I pictured all of them in the studio together; and I knew I wasn't seeing anything like that! That's why I thought I must have missed something. :)

Captain_jovi 12-11-2017 07:57 PM

I wonder if maybe the songs are just going to be released online to take advantage of getting into the Rock Hall?

Yes, I think so too. I can see they waiting for the RHOF result and releasing one song in commemoration, and take advantage of this (it would be a smart play, I think). The problem is if the result is not as expected...

rolo_tomachi 12-11-2017 09:31 PM

I can see that scenario. If they enter the Hall of Fame, I can watch a special release for fans early next year. If they do not enter the Hall of Fame, well, these new songs will serve to maintain the interest of the 2018 tour.

Dave88 12-13-2017 01:30 PM

Song titles are: "When We Were Us" and "Walls".
