Absolutely love this new song - sounds like Achtung Baby meets Songs Of Innocence.

rolo_tomachi 09-06-2017 04:23 PM

You’re The Best Thing About Me. The offical First single of SOE.

Walleris 09-06-2017 05:11 PM

Underwhelming.

The Little Things Give You Away was considerably better.

kleman 09-06-2017 08:10 PM

boring as hell :D far worst than anything from our band

rolo_tomachi 09-06-2017 10:24 PM

I liked the song, but nothing special. They seem to be desperately looking for a current pop sound to fit in with today's youngsters. U2 are losing their entity, their essence. Actung Baby was a brusque change, but there was a lot of inspiration, however, these songs; You're The best thing, The Miracle, Blackout .... feel empty. They are oversimplifying the things.

Nige 09-07-2017 11:34 AM

It's funny reading your comments as I absolutely love this song - great melody and lyrics. Much better than most of Songs of Innocence already

rolo_tomachi 09-08-2017 02:31 PM

What The ****???? This is a scandal.

Best CoverBand EVEr

Bono never sing Acrobat live. This one is awesome.

U2: You're the Best Thing About Me Live Jimmy Fallon Show

Great Vocals. Jon Bon Jovi can not do justice like Bono with his new songs. dammit.

Panda 09-16-2017 03:43 AM

I didn't like the studio version, but the live version on Fallon sounded pretty great! No backing track, just four guys playing a rock song.

Also their performance of Bullet the Blue Sky at the same show was so good! Bono's voice was on point, and the lyric changes were amazing

Me too! I wish the original was more like that, it would've actually had a chance at being a hit.

This song grows with the repeats. Sound like the U2 early 2000. It also reminds me of a song by The Killers.

here live version from EMA 2017

High Quality

rolo_tomachi 12-01-2017 05:53 PM

The album is out. Something disappointed.

Panda 12-02-2017 06:29 AM

I would stretch to say this is their best album since Achtung Baby. I think it's that good. Wow.

It's not a bad album, of course not. But something is missing, there are things that I like a lot, 3 or 4 songs that sound very refreshing, and others very well written, but ... it lacks more movement, maybe a couple of rock songs or something more exciting .

In any case, I've only heard it a couple of times, so this album may grow over time.

Summer of Love is simple but beautiful.

This sums up how I think as well.

There are lots of ballads, but they don't mean as much, when they're all next to each other and you have no rockers in between. Good albums usually have a balance of both. Songs of Innocence, while not overly impressive on a song-by-song basis, had that balance and thus was more enjoyable to me.

This is their equivalent to The Circle - not necessarily bad, but is essentially modern U2 by numbers, unwilling to take any risks or "let their hair down".

rolo_tomachi 12-14-2017 10:57 PM

I have read that U2 will finish their career with Songs of Ascent. The last record.

U2 close off their career with Songs of Ascent. The last song on that album has some lyrics reflecting Out of Control, their very first release. U2 come full circle. The album does have a bit of ‘Swan Song’ in it.

A new version of Mercy would be in the works, and The Edge says he’s already “working on some new ideas and compositions”

And even more, it could become a double album. SOA could see the light in 2020, its forty anniversary.

Looked at the presale for the O2 arena show. Level 4 seats face value of £208.50. Unbelievable

A little underwhelmed by this newest release. Some good tracks, for sure, but a backward step for me.

Panda 05-03-2018 05:41 PM

Anyone see the setlist from the new tour? 27 songs, and HALF of them (13 songs) from songs of innocence and songs of experience.

Also, here's the zinger - not one song from Joshua Tree - including no where the streets have no name, and no with or without you. Also they debuted some songs they haven't played in years - including some odd choices like the first ever performance of Acrobat from Achtung Baby and Staring at the sun for the first time in a couple decades from Pop.

I actually like this ballsy move, but i also really like the new album. But the worst of it all, is the best song on the two new albums wasn't played - The Little Things That Give You Away. what are your thoughts?
