It was a lovely day today so I walked home from town, took the long way to give me things to photograph and ultimately bring me through the park.

That looks just like the park and lakes area in St Albans!

Thomas Anderson 08-21-2007 05:45 PM

Well it's St Helens, not St Albans

Another shot - a small panorama of the small damn behind the main lake, known (apparently) as the "leg o' mutton"

I really, really love this park that you always take pics from. One day I will have to pay a visit.

Neil - I have done calligraphy for years. I started by learning engineer's lettering - and then just continued. I could post some of my stuff if you want to see it. I made a reasonable amount of money at it when I was in college but these days - fuggedaboutit. Printing is way cheaper than my time. Now I just do it for fun or for family and friends.

It isn't all that big, but with the right person to show you around it can be good on a nice day :p lol There's the main lake, 2 smaller dams at the back (one used for fishing, and the other is a small nature reserve or something) There's plenty of squirrels and ducks and geese in there, and there's another lake not too far away from there too, a bigger one.

I'm always interested to see calligraphy :) I've mostly only done it for things like Xmas cards myself in the past, but am getting more interested. I've always enjoyed expressing my creativity.
I found out that there's a class in the library in town. I went last week, it isn't a formal thing, but the man taking it has been into calligraphy for 30 years, so he knows his stuff :) Last week I mostly did origami there, some do drawing, painting etc Now that I've got my new pens though (much better than the others I had) I'll be doing that more, getting tips and advice :)

Carli loves squirrels. You should take her round the park :D :p

Hehe, nah you have taken many beautiful pictures in this park. I seriously would love to go one day, it looks huge compared to our local park and I thought that was pretty big. I was obviously wrong! :)

Well maybe I'm just used to it so don't think it's so big, I've been going there since I was a kid. If I go from my house into the park, 'round the main lake and back it's usually 1.6-1.8 miles (according to the thing on my bike).
