Thanks. I'm surprised how good this is because his voice was really struggling on this tour. I was at Hyde Park 2 weeks after this and his voice was poor

The greatest band there ever was or ever will be.

Another part at Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend.

Alec John Such's last ever performance with the band as a full time member, 30 years ago this year. Jon's voice was unreal here on original key Always

What is in the end speculated reason (by fanbase) for Alec being replaced? A series of underwhelming performances or something more sudden? Was there a serious addiction problem? I must say, with respect, he looks bad in that video

Yes, drugs and alcohol and diminishing performances. Hugh had recorded with the band in the studio since 7800 anyway. Alec was just the live guy. I also seem to remember he did a magazine interview where he might have said something about Jon. Edit: Here is a link to the article. He says some not complimentary things about Jon's song writing

I reckon this is the best live version of Always ever performed.

Very nice one, but I personally prefer the 1995 ones from Wantagh (Night 2), Milwaukee and Burgettstown.

That one from the O2 run in 2010 was pretty neat as well. The vocals came with ease:

That is brilliant, but it's the added little bits in the Chicago performance ("yes I would" in the second chorus and the "ah ah ahhhhh" in the final chorus) that give it the edge.

Man 2010 was a good year.
