It's hit #1 in Brazil... must be a slow week over there. Current #9 worldwide on itunes (http://kworb.net/ww/)
|
#1 Luxembourg
#2 BR #140 ID No longer charting in PH (#104 on Rock) |
iTunes charts are meaningless. I remember BWC was like no. 1 or no. 2 in a lot of countries (along with David Bowie's Where Are We Now) and it the end it didn't even crack Billboard Hot 100 and was only no. 38 in UK. I don't see why this should chart any higher.
|
Currently # 9 on itunes Canada
|
I look at it in comparison to the closest thing to them which is Green Day's, Bang Bang which is only doing a tad better at 30 right now. Bon Jovi is #1 in rock charts but there is nothing else new there and Green Day is actually 4th in the Alternative charts with other newer songs released in their genre.

#83 in iTunes in Belgium :-/
|
Rushed to #5 in Sweden
|
Predictably sliding now after the rush of die hards...
|
In the itunes chart for the UK it peaked at #16 on Friday and by Sunday afternoon had slipped out of 40 to #41. With no physical release either and streams to be added, sadly very little chance of it making the top 40 proper here on Friday, although will be interesting to see if it is in the full midweek chart update tonight.
Plus Absolute haven't played the song, not sure if Radio 2 has since the Premiere. |

They don't seem to apply this release date to all countries since I've heard the single on two different radio stations in Germany by now.
|
Midweek charts have been announced and it is in at 75.
Absolute joke that. |
Why's that a joke?
Apart from one play on the radio (in the UK), it's only being plugged to the existing fan base so far. You'll never get a hit single like that.... To be honest, I think the days of the band having big single hits are gone. The singles/download charts are full of acts of a younger generation. Fans of bands like Jovi buy albums, which will still chart high regardless of how the single does.... |
Yes but the way that a song makes it to chart has also changed. So, it's a combination these days.
But anyway, for Bon Jovi to make another massive hit like It's My Life hmm, seems impossible for now. |

Drake managed 15 weeks at #1 in the UK recently, despite combined sales being lower than the majority of the rest of the top 10. It will take a ton of sales to propel this up the charts because it's not going to get much airplay because commercial radio stations appeal to a different audience. |

The video of Jon in the shower, last I saw had over 2 Million views not counting shares - they still have some power. |

But as someone already mentioned, Bon Jovi has been an album band for some years now, and I have rather high hopes for the album THINFS, which I still believe will have some great tracks in it. |

And the fact that the shower video gets a lot more views than the song (ie twice as much so far) says it all. |

Valid point - it could be taste as well. My personal experience is age. Took my son to see, kicking and screaming, Fleetwood Mac last year. As soon as we were back in the car - he was "downloading" their music. Nice to see young people who know "real" music ! |
No. 75 in the UK mid week chart
|
To make it all the more frustrating, the greatest hits album is at #30 in the midweek album chart while the new single is on course to miss the chart altogether

Most Jovi fans are older and won't buy singles now they are downloads. BSides were mostly great with Jovi so a download is pretty rubbish nowadays. Most will buy the album.
|
No doubt the album will go in at No.2 for about the 27th time in a row, just a pity that people are buying Bon Jovi this week, just not the 99p new single.
Although they were always a front loaded fanbase sale anyway with all the 2 x CD and cassette singles, Always and a few others excepted, they would mostly peak and disappear fairly quickly. Shame that last week you only needed 15k to be at #40 and Jovi will sell enough tickets and albums well in excess of that, but will only sell a few thousand 99p singles. But the most damning statistic is: Streams accounted for 8,145,170 sales, 83.08% of the total Which coupled with the loss of CD singles rules out any hope of Jovi troubling the singles charts ever again. |
Charted at number 35 in UK charts. 40 places up from midweek.

Where did you get that number from? It's not even in the top 100 at the below link and I find it hard to believe that would improve on the midweek as most fans would have brought it the first day!
