Tom Waits
Any fans?
We can't all be philistines here surely? :o |
I tried to get into his music a while ago but it grated on me.
I'll try again some day. |

Rain Dogs is great because it's got some pretty out there stuff but it's also got a bunch of accessible pop tunes on it, which Rd Stewart then went on to bastardise :s |
I was introduced to Tom by my now EX boyfriend. I really like Tom, lyrically, but have a hard time listening to him vocally. His Closing Time album is my favorite.

I fell in love with Tom Waits back in the early 80s - I'm Your Man sucked me right in. Low key and ironic it really spoke to me.
Then he wrote music for a movie that I love called Night on Earth (1991 - I recommend this to anyone and everyone). That was it - I've been a fan ever since. Yeah - his voice is peculiar. So is Leonard Cohen's - I love the writing anyway. |
I like Tow Waits' early stuff. The 80's experimental stuff doesn't do much for me, but the piano and/or jazzy stuff of the 70s is great.
