I still think it's pretty shit. Dull. Boring. Makes me want to slit my wrists. And not even in a good way.

It's anything but dull and boring. The only boring song is Silent Night.

jade4jovi 07-09-2008 11:26 PM

Well, not to me. I see nothing NOT dull about it. I really don't like the album. Just my opinion. Haven't listened to it a great deal, because nothing about it appeals to me. Actually, I lie - Jons voice sounds nice in it. Apart from that - I'm not a fan.

Oh, I love Only Lonely, actually. The others....finding it hard to remember. I just know I hate the album in general.

Tell you what, I'll listen to them just now, and then answer the question fairly. :)

Yeah Only Lonely is brilliant :)

Okay, can't wait until you realise you actually love the album! ;)

That's the thing. I do that a lot. I say I hate an album - or even love an album - that I haven't heard in a while. But then play it again, and change my mind. So, I'm gonna listen to it again now, to be fair. But I know my opinion in the past, I HATED the album. We'll see. ;D

That happened to me with Bounce. I didn't really like it except for a few songs when I started getting into Jovi then BAM! I listened to it again and loved it :D

jade4jovi 07-10-2008 12:02 AM

I forgot IAOOL was on there. Obviousl love that one. And I always loved Only Lonely, atlough the delivery is a bit dull.

Toyko Road - Boooorrrriinnnnggg...zzzzzzz!

Always Run To You - Meh...I love the lyrics, but again the delivery is dull.

Silent Night - love the lyrics, and I can listen to it. But STILL the delivery is dull.

The rest is still shit. In conclusion, I don't like this album. It's dull. Sorry!

I'm younger than Jade and I LOVE it. Don't be ageist.

Don't be condescending, or I'll have to be petty and start pointing out your grammatical errors.;)

no offence chaps but if you wasnt born when the album was released then thats why you might not like it as much - it may sound dated to you.

i love it !

I think 7800 is a great album.

I could never make a list of my fav albums because IMO it's a mood thing.
Some days all I want is huge anthems with big choruses.. then I go for SWW and NJ..

I think what makes 7800 so special is actually the lack of production. That raw feeling u get from the songs.

I definitely don't think it's bland or that it delivers poorly.
Its what a rock album is meant to be.

So even though some people may dislike it. They surely have to agree that it has great riffs, solos and vocals. Three things nowadays records are lacking.

I don't like the vocals. Jon sounds like he has a mouth full of goob.

LOL!

The last few records sound like he's singing through his nose :P What a strange man

Grypweed 07-10-2008 07:13 PM

He just can't get it right can he?

No, scratch that, he had it in the 90's

What about 2008? His vocals have been excellent.

Well, live-wise :D

jade4jovi 07-10-2008 08:51 PM

So, his vocals were bad in the 80's? And are bad right now? Right...I don't think so!

No one said Bad.

I believe they were great until 96. And then they somehow became great again in the European leg this tour.

Thought I’d do a little search rather than a new topic

Apart from These Days, this genuinely is the album I listen to most. Raw. Heavy in places. Dark. It’s a great listen and I’m unapologetic about loving it so much.

B.J. Always 03-30-2023 09:11 AM

Richie made a crack about this album when he was on The Masked Singer. Didn't sound like he liked it too much at all. I like it and I also like These Days.

eddie73 03-30-2023 09:45 AM

Absolute belter of an album, comes in second only after New Jersey for me ! beats the shit out of slippery, that just bores me now !

bonjovi90 03-30-2023 10:46 AM

Good songs, nice riffs, but absolutely hating the production style of it.

For me, 7800º was the worst of their first 6 albums, but I've always put it ahead of post-2000 albums. After 2000, it was such a different band.. I like the things they did after, but the album concept (with powerful voices and guitars) was not there anymore.

I never understood why Jon in the early 2000s called coasters to 7800 Fahrenheit. It's true that the sound of it aged badly and feels outdated, but it had some great songs on it.

In & Out Of Love kicks ass.

It sounds a ton like early 80s rock stuff. Dave Bickler-era Survivor come to mind especially. If you are not into that kinda sound, it's probably not very enjoyable. I certainly dig it, especially considering how much the band tries to downplay its qualities. It was a pleasant surprise; I love The Hardest Part Is The Night.

That being said... I prefer it over the debut, but it's not better than any of the other '80s albums the band did.

semigoodlooking 04-04-2023 01:22 PM

This was the first Bon Jovi studio album I listened to. I had Cross Road, which got me into the band and went to HMV to buy an album. Chose this for no other reason than a lack of knowledge. Took it home and that night listened to it on repeat all night, didn't sleep a wink.

I loved it so much it confirmed the fandom I was growing from Cross Road. I went back to HMV over the next few days and bought the rest, which at that point was Bon Jovi to These Days. Smashed the living shit out of those CDs for the next however many months, not really listening to anything else. That sort of obsessive committment to something young people have and that I miss now I am older.

As for this album, I love the songs, the playing, the arrangements, and Jon's voice. The production takes a lot away from it though, but does make it the most unique-sounding Bon Jovi record.

steel_horse75 04-06-2023 10:12 AM

i actually think the shitty production gives the album its charm. When I picked this album up when I was 14 I had no idea what production was and still loved it instantly.
