I tried putting both url of the forum and of the popup to the "Website" field but it doesn't work.

Hmm, try putting "http://drycounty.com" in Website field.

Just use the uBlock origin extension in your browser. Has done the trick for me.

I can't even access via Chrome. I forgot to activate the automatic login and now every time I try to access, I get a virus alert and my antivirus software blocks the site before I can navigate. It just freezes

I paid for the subscription (was going to do it anyway, but now it really feels like blackmailing) because it's such a hassle getting a hundred million ads and on top of that the security warnings, but I still get the virus alert on Chrome. Firefox works fine.

Please do something. Ads I understand. Malware on the other hand :bad-word:

jtadmin 10-06-2016 09:48 PM

Thank you for going for Ad-Free subscription!
Good point about automatic login - now the pop ads should not display to non-registered members on forum index page (testing this part to see the effect - UPDATE: effect not acceptable, removed...) and on login/register page, this should enable a paid member to login without ads popping up.

There is not much control over specific ads being displayed by certain ad network. As mentioned above, problematic ads should be reported here: https://www.popads.net/report-abuse.html . Or make a screenshot and post if here.

Tom_K 10-09-2016 01:03 PM

Links in posts are annoying, mobile browsing is useless. I keep getting redirected to some ad site no matter what I click. This is not how you run a site. Put some normal ads on the site.

I get the attached warning from my antivirus when i try to browse the site, and the popunder reporting doesn't work, no matter what you select, it just says not recognised popunder!

I got the same alert on Chrome for a week or so and then it stopped popping. I didn't do anything...

Did you install a new/different adblocker recently? I was told on other board that might be the reason

B.J. Always 10-11-2016 09:52 PM

I was trying to do some reading on the site before joining and I was told there was a virus on my Mac which there isn't?

ajf33 10-12-2016 03:25 PM

I haven't installed any new security, it's the same antivirus that I've had for a while that flags up the malware and locks the site down, on both Chrome & avast safe browser. I not had a problem till the last week or so, but now I can only access the site via another browser, which is annoying, I don't mind the popups as I can close them, but malware locking up the site is another matter, can you please sort that out, as altho I could pay to use the site, It wouldn't solve the problem, as the malware registers as soon as I browse onto the site, locking it up, so I can not login, so paying would mean I have to have a browser just for here!

That's probably just an ad. Is it promoting software such as MacKeeper?

Which antivirus are you using? And the OS, Windows? What version?
Are you using some kind of ad blocker?

Yes it was. And yesterday I couldn't even log in to the site because one Ad after another kept coming up. And then the site told me I had used up my 5 attempts to log in.

After I waited the time to sign in again Apple gave me the message that said "Deceptive Website Warning". I didn't know what was going on so I didn't try to log in again until now. And with this log in there was no problem at all!

Avast Antivirus, Windows 10 64 home edition, and yes I have adblock plus installed, but have had that for a while, withot it causing the virus alert pic I shared on a previous page.

The alert happens on Chrome & Avast safe browser (which uses chrome programming) but not edge, which I don't like using, and only am as only browser I have that runs this site!

B.J. Always 10-18-2016 09:45 PM

Gee I can't believe it I got an X rated ad. Please that is really a bit much!

I think I have finally gotten the ads blocked. After seeing that X rated ad I was willing to do about anything to get rid of them!

ajf33 10-22-2016 09:11 AM

Ok now the site is causing virus alerts via the pop ups in Edge as well, getting way beyond a joke, and is in danger of killing of the casual browsers who don't mind seeing the odd ad in exchange for free use of the site. I'm not gonna sign up just because if I don't i'll get bombarded with ad's that trip my anti virus, I'd sign up because ei can justify doing so by th amount i'd actually use the site, which at the moment is not enough to justify joining. Please sort out the mess these pop ups are causing, otherwise you're really gonna see a drop off in visitors, as there seem to be no browsers safe from pop up induced virus alerts!

rokuli 10-22-2016 05:23 PM

This ad thing's gotten out of hand really. Site is basically unusable. Dont wanna come here often anymore because of this ridiculousness....

jazzsta 10-26-2016 11:47 AM

Seriously it is very bad. Via mobile, 90% of taps result in some popup, which you have to close fast, otherwise some persistant thing is gonna keep buzzing and lots of other BS come around. I close ads more than reading the forum. I am sure you dont need all these adds to survive, do you?

groover22 10-26-2016 12:11 PM

I use Tapatalk to read the forums now. Zero ads. Or the ad block plus add-on using Firefox browser does the trick also.

Im also using Jovi talk on my mobile every click on a page leads to a ad! It took me at least 15 mins to get here to l9g in and post!

JoviForever 10-27-2016 08:22 PM

The site is almost at the point of unusable!

Firefox + adblock plus helps, but doesn't stop the popups, and I really didn't want to install another browser just to browse here.

I still get virus alerts if I try to use Chrom, safezone, edge or opera, and think the powers that be need to take a look at the ads they're using to support the site, as i said before i don't mind the odd pop up whilst browsing as a free user, but the fact they're tripping my antivirus is not good.

EDIT - As I post this firefox gets locked up as a pop up trips my antivirus, this really needs sorting otherwise this site will slowly die as it gets a rep as an unsafe site, therefore stoping casual users from coming near it.

B.J. Always 11-01-2016 12:39 AM

I though I had gotten rid of the ads only today to find them all after I logged out of this site! These are full page ads so I had to clear them after I left the site. I have never had that happen before. I wasn't seeing them while I was posting, but they were all there after I left!

Rdkopper 11-01-2016 05:45 PM

I have a lot of devices I post here with and I don't have the energy to equip each one with all these blockers so if these adds don't stop, I'm outa here

Agreed. This mess needs to stop now. the only usable place is my laptop, but my cellphone and tablet are useless now. Also I got a pornographic ad. Not cool.

I'll check back in a week and see if this mess is fixed.

Tom_K 11-02-2016 12:52 AM

I would gladly give a donation but being blackmailed into buying a subscription? No thanks. I'd never give any kind of financial info to an admin that hosts ads which aim to infect the users device.

Agreed, it's ****ing mess.. Can't even check this at work or on my mobile due to all the porn popping up.

Def not going to pay for a subscription.

B.J. Always 11-05-2016 01:09 AM

The porn is especially bad

Bleeding Purist 11-05-2016 08:24 AM

Using Chrome, I didn't see any porn. Has it been resolved?

I'm almost afraid to say this, but I'm not getting any ads at all right now.

Admin was visiting earlier, so he may have fixed it. That's why I was wondering what changed. I saw ads, but they were tolerable versus invasive/prohibitive.

I didn't know the Admin was visiting earlier. But the ads are all gone for me now.

jtadmin 11-05-2016 10:32 AM

Popunder/popup ads are disabled for the moment to allow for better experience at the release of new BJ album. They will be back soon though, with tweaked ad network settings.

Porn ads should definitely not be appearing, but it would be great if someone would send a screenshot of such an ad (with visible browser address bar).

As for virus alerts - are you sure those are actual alerts from antivirus software and not ads themselves? Ads for certain software look like virus alerts (for example Mackeeper on Mac).

Thanks for the ad break due to the new BJ album. Actually I'm sure those virus alerts are just part of the ads to get you buy Mackeeper, etc. At first they had me fooled, but I finally caught on.

I'm not good at doing screenshots myself, but I do hope if those porn ads come back other people are so you can keep them off permanently!

Since the membership is not in my currency I guess I will have to put up with the ads when they return.

Paypal does the currency conversion for you automatically. And USD:EUR exchange rate has been very good for Americans for a while now.

dianebonjovi 11-05-2016 06:18 PM

Appreciate the temporary disabling of the ads. And hope the tweaked settings will be an improvement.

The porn ads are disturbing. And really, so are the ones that lock the screen and advise you to call a phone # to fix the problem. Those ones you have to ctrl/alt/delete to get rid of.

I realize ads pay for the forum, but it's a real shame that this long-existing Bon Jovi community has had to resort to ads with such sleazy content. :(

I hadn't thought about anything like that working! Thanks for the information :)

I was definitely getting porn - not that I get that offended but I would just as soon not. My malwarebytes program has blocked everything on this site though it sure slows things down. It does indeed differentiate between a virus and malware and both types have been quarentined from this site. I have to assume that both malware and a virus were here.

I have malwarebytes, but mine says it is only for malware not a virus.

I have Malwarebytes premium - it specifically says real time protection and malicious website blocking. I had almost one hundred pages blocked from visiting this site. Fortunately it does its job.

jtadmin 11-13-2016 02:59 PM

Pop ads have been reactivated, however for the time being (testing for 1-2 weeks) they should be pop-under only (i.e. they open under current window or in new tab) and not pop-up ads. Also, they are from an ad network that's not been used here yet. Hopefully ads will be less annoying/problematic and equally efficient as previous ones.
