Scratch that. After listening to the chord progression of the guitar part Phil was working on and the chanting I think it's the same song and might not be a WDR style rocker at all.

THINFS will be a year and a half old by the start of this next leg and past the point of promotion... Heck, Jon wrote the album a year prior to it's release... Jon's penning two new songs to go somewhere and to be played live.... He's not going to play demos or bsides so chances are, he's got some left over BB / THINFS tracks that he's going to put on the "Extended Version" of THINFS to support the final leg of this tour... Damm, I love being smart... |
That snippet of Phil laying down a guitar track sounds nice... The live stream John did with them recording the vocals sounds like 2 different songs to me

Shanks is a one man show... Not only is he a great musician but he's also great with technology... That's why Jon keeps his around... Jon can lay down his vocals in a day and then have Shanks pretty much do the rest. I'm hoping for one old school ballad with Jon hitting some high notes and another balls out rocker with both Phil and Shanks killing it on guitar... |
I don't have Facebook so can't see these videos as it's asking for a log in.
Any chance someone can download the videos and send me them please?? Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk |

Oh. THAT full band. Got it. :) But isn't that the same full band that's played on everything in the past decade or so, except for NYE, maybe. I mean, color me skeptical, but I still find it strange that, with all the hype about how THINFS was a full band effort, the only specific reference to input from any band member was the Tico/Popeye story. There was the vague comment about how David stepped up to fill the gap left by Richie's departure, which Jon never explained except to say that it definitely wasn't writing. We know it wasn't vocals and I don't remember any production credits for DB. Phil-X did more to fill that gap, imo, than David did. At least he was brought in to overdub some guitar parts he didn't write, like Richie used to do. Otherwise, it still seemed like the Jon-John show to me. Anyway, looks like Shanks is joined to somebody else's hip now. Guess that's what happens when your buddy comes to work for the company. Maybe the two of them will be able to give you the sound you guys are looking for. As far as I'm concerned, if it sounds like Bon Jovi I'm okay with it. |

When it comes to studio tracks, I'm okay with whatever. Ghost musicians have been used in studio work forever... Plus times have changed and the way music is made is much different... A lot of it depends on the certain song demands... Example, some songs might only need a basic drum beat and some might require a specific thump... As long as the Bon Jovi guys are still playing live, I'm forgiving when it comes to the studio work... As far as Dave goes, I know first hand that it brought him and Jon closer together... Dave might have not been involved with writing due to the lack of chemistry but he absolutely did take on more with vocals... He also became more of a focal point within pictures, videos, and interviews... |
