Bon Jovi influenced bands/artists, what else is out there?
I've been playing the living crap out of Johnny Lima lately - I absolutely love all his albums up until (and including) Livin' Out Loud. Now I feel like I'm missing out on some others as well; which other - preferrably good - artists or bands there are sounding like Bon Jovi?

They don't necessarily sound exactly like Bon Jovi, but My Chemical Romance and Sunrise Avenue are both influenced by Bon Jovi (the singer of Sunrise Avenue even has the Superman tattoo) and you can definitely hear the influence in some of their songs. In MCR's case mostly on the Black Parade album I'd say.

1) Dragonforce: Herman Li cites Sambora's solos as the first he would hear every now and then as a child, which inspired him initially. Sam Totman said something to the effect of "We just play Bon Jovi solos, just at a faster tempo"
2) Nickelback: Ouch! But seriously, their first 3 records are top notch pop rock. Chad Kroeger loves him some BJ. 3) 3 Doors Down/Aaron Lewis of Staind/Brent Smith of Shinedown/Corey Taylor of Slipknot/Daughtry/Alexi Laiho of CoB have all covered Wanted Dead or Alive, which is perhaps the most respected song in the Jovi catalog. |
Collateral are a small band from the UK that are very influenced by BJ that I like

I always felt The Calling had Bon Jovi influences. Some of the band members looked identical too.

Got this through in my Spotify release radar! I’d say 100% jovi influenced
https://youtu.be/llSQiz1I8IA Brilliant song , never heard of them so off to find some more stuff ! |
90% of Frontiers Records' roster is BJ influenced to some degree. Of course, that'd be 80s Bon Jovi... check out Crazy Lixx "Blame it on Love", too:
And as far as My Chemical Romance goes, nah, the Black Parade, especially the title track, owes more to Queen than to BJ. |

Isn't Teenagers in major? I've heard the comparison between Famous Last Words and Bon Jovi before, but it always seemed way too melodramatic to me to be BJ. It's easily my fav track on the album, though.

Gerard said that the big chorus of Famous Last Words was inspired by the big choruses on Slippery When Wet. It's one of my ultimate faves on the album as well! |
Bad Medicine is in E minor, no? The G is way too prominent for A major, although I guess the whole rock & roll scale thing allows for it. It feels more minorish than Teenagers (ironic, given the titles).
Also, for the record, I never cared all that much for Teenagers. Famous Last Words (as I said), the title track (super close behind), The Sharpest Lives, This is How I Disappear, House of Wolves - these are all super duper great, though. |

I love that entire album, but I guess my favorite tracks are Famous Last Words, Disenchanted, the title track, I Don't Love You and This Is How I Disappear. Well, okay, and I guess Teenagers as well 😄 |

Whoops... Come Back much?
https://youtu.be/HFnBbRTIf-8 I also find this song very BJ inspired (although the intro is quite Aerosmith-esque, the rest of the song sounds pretty much like pure 80s Jovi to me - key change and all): https://youtu.be/xsLZx3xYGVM |

I love crazy lixx - going to see them next year.
They say SWW is a huge influence. They have about 6 or 7 albums and are all great. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
I've found this rather old Australian band, who are undoubtedly VERY heavily BJ influenced:
