What's next?

Alright, time for some rounds of pure speculation again!
With just 3 more shows to go on this leg and nothing further announced so far, what will be the next step BJ are going to do?

Will they really tour Europe 2019 on the back of an album from 2016 which had widely gone unnoticed outside the fanbase anyway and which didn't even span a proper radio single?

Are they going back to the studio this fall for a new record? If so, what could it be about? Jon's main inspirations for THINFS, the record company turmoil and the departure of Richie, have mostly been solved I guess. Is there anything he has to say at the moment or could it lead to another WAN album?

Imagine they decide to go back to record. What line-up will it be? Phil X has posted recent videos of recording sessions for the new Drills album. I'm sure that's something he likes to promote after its release. But will he just be skipped on the studio work for most parts (like on the recent album) and return for a tour?
What is Shanks going to do? I think there's zero doubt he'd be the producer again, but will he have the desire to keep touring or was it just a commitment to his friend Jon who had gone through a rough time beforehand? I'm sure at the end of the day a producer wants to produce some artists as well.
Will Richie be involved in some way? Since RSO at least seem to be on hold at the end of the year (Ori has announced her solo record for that period), they might try to at least write some songs together again. Or will he re-join? If so, with Phil X or Shanks on board for live shows? I guess it all depends on how far things might've been settled during the course of the Hall of Fame event (I'm sure that they at least have talked about it in private at some point).

Or are they gonna call it quits?

Didn't Jon say something about touring Japan and Australia later in the fall of 2018? I think it was at the red carpet at the IHeart radio awards where he said it.

Yeah, but they also hinted at touring Europe this year and nothing came to fruition. So I just assumed that there won't be much more touring for this album :D

I truly hope that they stop now. The band is a shadow of itself and it was so sad to see what it had become at the R&R HOF. Much as I still enjoy the albums that they produce (I absolutely love THINFS), the band is dead. Jon can no longer sing. This is, needless to say, a fatal flaw for a rock and roll band.

A few old live shows; anniversary albums, or better yet, a second boxset would be a nice way to keep the material coming out over the next few years. If new material is produced then I would prefer to see these as JBJ solo projects.

This is all predicated on the assumption that Jon's voice does not improve. If for some reason he regains his voice and can actually sing in a reasonable way and deliver a two-hour concert then I would happily see Bon Jovi continuing.

The future of the band??
You have the evidence in front of you, When we Were Us and Walls. Both Phil and Shanks on guitars and Jon looking to emulate popular production to sound current.

No Jon solo, his creative outlet seems pretty fulfilled with the Bon Jovi brand, and his bond with Tico, Dave and the current guys seems to have gotten stronger.

I think they will continue to make new music because Jon has always emphasized that writing is his greatest passion in the music business. I think touring will be scaled back due to health issues. This was a band that never cancelled or rescheduled shows and illness led to shows being rescheduled last year and this year (and then there were Tico’s 2 emergency surgeries last tour).

But, really, I think they will continue to do whatever they want. There is literally nothing left to prove to anyone. Their career is one of the greatest in music history and they will remain a legendary act, no matter what.

Jon said he was gonna make a new album before and for the 2019 tour.

Yeah, he's said so, but he's a notorious liar as well (they all are) :D
And he's admitted to be one, so I take everything with a grain of salt and speculate what could happen;)
