Noel said something along the lines of "We were the last British band to play Wembley Stadium. We were gonna be the last band but, err, Bon Jovi somewhat tainted that for us."

To be fair though, Oasis' shows were a lot better (and exciting, with Liam being that drunk) than Bon Jovi's last shows at Wembley.

Would you blow Glastonbury out for Bon Jovi if he said come and co-headline with me for three nights?

"He did, actually. We turned him down. Turned loads down, actually. Turned down Bon Jovi, turned down The Rolling Stones at Wembley, turned down the David Bowie world tour. The only thing we're committed to is the REM show.

We could've done them, too, I think everyone expected us to do The Stones shows, and I personally wanted to but it would've held up the album too much. But the Bon Jovi show, well, nah, it's not worth the humiliation. I like him as a bloke, but his group... and as for Bowie, well, 20 years ago maybe but not now. He's just an old git."

Pretty tame by Noel's standards tbh

I'm a huge Oasis fan, but Noel's out of his tree. They are absolutely massive in the UK, but in the US, no one has given a shit about anything they've done in 10 years. Hell, I saw them supporting the Black Crowes about 4 years back.

I say this with all unbias sincerity - Many of these bands are jealous of Bon Jovi. There isn't one band that has ever slagged off on them that is more successfull, and BJ have done it without critical acclaim, controversy or a shitty attitude. They haven't broken up time and again like other bands. And one thing that I'm sure sticks in their craws is that Jon, make fun of them as they do, is a hell of a lot more savvy and intelligent than they are. If his music career ended today, he'd have something to back up on. What the hell would Eddie Vedder or Noel Gallagher do?

Although they're nowhere near as successful in the US, they have sold out MSG, and Dig Out Your Soul got to Number 5 last year!

That was a co-headlining tour.

I don't know quite what you mean by that, but I'm sure they could both have pretty succesfull solo careers.

Pearl Jam isn't a bleep on Bon Jovi's success radar. When grunge wiped out the hair bands, it didn't succeed with Bon Jovi.

It's because Bon Jovi had a big fanbase. Bon Jovi went from 7x Platinum to 2x Platinum. Grunge downsized the fanbase of popular bands like Van Halen, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Black Crowes, Guns N' Roses and Van Halen, to name a few.

I particularly dislike entertainers who disparage other entertainers. Say what you will - as entertainers they have the power of the microphone. I think far too many abuse that power.

I enjoy Pearl Jam and/or Eddie Vedder casually - I'm not a huge fan. However I have always liked what I perceived as his integrity. Too bad he blows that image on cheap shots such as this.

Crushgen24/88 07-11-2009 10:09 PM

I'm not gonna throw Eddie under the bus or anything here, and I think Pearl Jam are by far the best of the grunge bands, but that's just a pointless shot at an "easy" target.

From everything I have read, Liam and Noel have had something to say about every band and not always the best remarks, even about the Beatles and the Stones...Talk about ego. They sure seem to think that they are the best rock n roll band in the world...and it seems like they are slagging all these bands that might be in competition with them for that title.

Idiotic comments like saying that they hate all Green Day fans...WTF I' am Green Day fan and I have also slowly become an Oasis fan and shit like that just turns me off.

It may have been co-headlining, but it didn't come off that way. Black Crowes played about 30 minutes longer, played last, had a bigger stage, and there were many more people there for them.

I'm not talking musically. I'm talking outside of music. Jon's a smart guy, with a lot of business savvy, and his hand in many other outlets. Noel and Eddie have nothing beside music.

This may be my biased Pearl Jam loving viewpoint talking, but from what you guys were saying, I expected far worse than what he actually said. It was more like a swipe at patriotism that just so happened to include Jon because he wears an American flag sometimes
