Last Man Standing
Which version of Last Man Standing doeas everyone prefer?
The Have A Nice Day Album version or the version on the Boxset? I prefer the HAND version but my girlfriend likes the Boxset version. |
Have A Nice Day Version
Depends on my mood, I like both.
My girl and I like HAND's version. Its energetic and really captures the pride of the song.
The one on the box set.
I prefer the HAND version but hubby prefers the box set version.
maybe boxset...
HAND version, love the riff, and especially the rhythm guitar, Richie's backing vocals add to it, Jon's vocals build brilliantly, and it gets rid of the really wimpy sounding bit just before the last chorus
Probably the HAND version by a slight edge. I really like them both.

The box set version - the meaning and the emotion of the lyrics seem to come through more than on the HAND version.
Definitely the HAND version. To me the other one is so boring in comparison.
HAND version. The albums layout makes it seem really explosive (which it sort of is) cos there's I Wanna Be Loved and Welcome to Wherever You Are before it.
The box set version is cool though - really relaxing |
gotta be HAND version, Richie on top form.
Yeah HAND for me too.......It's actually my favourite song of all time believe it or not. Everything about it, the guitars, the riff, Richie's intricate harmonies, Tico's fills.......I do like the boxset version too though, you can hear Dave quite clearly on it who you don't often hear very well....I'm not sure if it would be my favourite if they hadn't have opened with it on the majority of the tour, maybe it's because i'm reminded of that adrenaline rush when you know they're gonna come onstage...maybe not, who knows....
I like the HAND version a little better. However, this is the way they should've have done it for HAND, I think. Just a remix between the boxset and HAND version, have a listen.

Good idea, would've done first part boxset version, bit of the outro like you did then straight into opening solo from HAND version followed by 2nd version and rest of HAND version
Yep that's how it should've been. Someone make it please because I don't know how to.... |
Have a Nice Day version.
HAND version by a longshot.
HAND version is my fave... i'm not a huge fan of the Box Set version but do like the acoustic live version from the TLFR DVD.... still HAND is superior to that too
Definitely the HAND version
I *think* I'll go for the box set version because that's the version I first fell in love with. In my opinion, LMS is the best Jovi song since '95. I love the HAND version as well though but I think the box set one captures the bitterness of the lyric better.
I'll never forget hearing that song for the first time on the TLFR dvd. I hadn't been touched by a Jovi song that much since These Days. I'd have to say the song is my 4th fav Jovi song of all time behind Prayer, These Days and Always. I hope it's played every show until the end of their career..it's that good. |
Definately the boxset/TLFR live version, it's so much better than the HAND version. It has the right feel, if you know what I mean. :)
I don't know. After hearing the TLFR/boxset version I thought it had a lot of promise. So when it was anounced for Have A Nice Day, the thought of a big hard hitting anthem was very assuring. However, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. I think the vocals (on the HAND version) let it down, they're just too soft for the pace and strength of the guitars.
The HAND ROCK version, because it's the most energetic, organic song they've done in years. Plus: great solo. They could've done more with the Boxset version, e.g. a better keyboard solo.
