Could BJ survive without a major label?
...and make their own label like some bands do?

Interesting question.
My other favourite band the Counting Crows have recently either ditched or been ditched by Geffen. They plan to go it alone, doing a lot of stuff via the net etc. If it's viable for them to do it, it certainly would be for Bon Jovi because they are a much, much bigger band. But - there wouldn't be the same massive stadium tours, and quite a lot would change. Can't see it ever happening though - no labels likely to ever drop Jovi - and I can't see Jon having the devotion to do it all himself and the effort that would require at this stage in his life, to be honest. |
didnt they have their own label called Jambco?
leaving Mercury (in UK) wouldnt be a big deal all they would have to do is find a distributer to get the CDs to the shops. so the answer is yes. |
Could they? Yes. Would they? No way.

No. Bon Jovi is too big worldwide. They must sell their stuff in all the regions, and they can't do it without major label.

they have their own pubblishing, that's half the battle.
bands make most of their money from tours and merch so the big tours would stay. kind of irrelevan though, if they were going to do it, they'd have done it by now. |
