'U2's collaboration with famed producer BRIAN ENO' has resulted in a new 'trance' inspired album unlike anything they've done before.
The Irish rockers have spent the last few months recording the follow-up to 2004's 'How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb' in an African recording studio and frontman Bono believes fans will be shcoked by the results.

The 47 year old star says :

"Normally when you play a U2 tune, it clears the dancefloor. And that may not be true of this. There's some trance influences. But theres some very hardcore guitar coming out of The Edge. Really molten metal. It's not like anything we've ever done before, and we don't think it sounds like anything anyone else has done either"

Either we've gone back in time 10 years, or Bono has completely forgotten U2's Pop album.

I hate U2 - they don't have just 1 sound, but "meh".

Sounds interesting. Even a trance album has to be better than their last album.

Nah, can't agree with you there. Just seemed a bit of a lame effort to me. There was nothing on it to excite me.

Yea, quite middle of the road, not quite as much as ATUCLB, but still not a strong album IMO. Vertigo was a killer track though, and I liked City Of Blinding Lights.

Well not really trance, but alot of techo/dance elements, which is was I meant. I'm guessing new album will be similar to Pop.

****ing brilliant! And oh so true.

I remember a documentary on Channel 4 for some years ago (2001 I think) called Top 10 Greatest Guitar Heroes or something, and The Edge was like #5, and Slash wasn't in there at all. What the **** were they thinking.
