On the one hand, there's hardly a chance that Richie would return to a Bon Jovi that does NOT sell all that well anymore and would barely tour. On the other hand, Jon focusing on just studio work would allow him to work with his voice (i.e. not wreck it on tour, have all the time in the world to get a good vocal take in his home studio), and, you know, maybe bring in the two co-writers that made the band's greatest hits so special... if it's just a studio project, a certain former band member being "unreliable" is hardly a factor anymore.

I dunno. I dig 2020, and Blood in the Water is a great song, but everything is clouded by "how good would this be with a young JBJ vocal take" and "how good would this be with Richie doing backing vocals and the solo".

Considering how Jon's barely able to fill a bar on a cruise ship I don't think the demand for those shows is there. Casual fans in America who go see Bon Jovi shows go for the arena spectacle, not for the theater intimacy and they won't be willing to pay well over 500 dollars for a ticket. Jon would have to lower his asking price to make this work.

Ultimately it's Jon's instrument and lack of willingness to mix things up that eventually stops this from happening. While he could rely on the band to cover for him at the start of the This House Is Not For Sale Tour just 2 years later he needed the band to pretty much do his job and was merely there for entertainment value.

Considering how every performance since the tour has been doctored beyond belief there's little reason to believe he has recovered from all of this. If anything, he's gotten worse and there's just no way he'd be able to do an entire gig, let alone a 20 date tour.

Spot on. I completely agree with you.

Jon's current vocal problems are so severe that he's never going to really recover from them and will continue to sound very bad for the rest of his career. Which part about it is so hard for people to understand and accept? Your voice doesn't come back once it disappears like that.

On the other hand, Jon supporting the Democrats also seems to have made many former American fans turn their backs on him - and that I still can't humanly understand...

Yeah he's voice is shot now.
That gig they did where they did the album in full was really bad. Jon sings like he's deaf and can't hear himself.
Tragic whats happened to his vocals.
