JBJ Cruise Shows

Anyone know what got played last night or what JBJ answered in the Q&A?

I've seen some snippets of Prayer, Bad Name and Who Says You Can't Go Home but nothing else.

JBJ hair looks like the HAND era... But grey.

Didn't sound in great vocal shape on the videos I watched.

Imagine paying that money and hearing Who Says! I’d jump overboard!

He's looking quite good atm. Can't say the same about his singing but that's as per usual these days.

I could handle Who Says better than Hallelujah. I'm not a fan of that one, no matter who sings it. But he would have made up for it with I Will Drive You Home and Color Me In. :)
I like the Stray Cat/Ray Charles Bad Name, too, assuming that's the one he did. Not a bad set.

Man, imagine being finally free from playing the hits and knowing you'll have a crowd of people not begging for Bad Name at every show. Don't get me wrong, it's great to see these rarities but they're the same ones these shows tend to get. It's just just a great chance to do the songs that fulfill you creatively and not need to deal with casual fans and lighting/video cues.

Paying a few thousand dollars and hearing It's My Life would feel like such a letdown. All for people spending money how they want but who is this aimed at?

That's exactly the feeling I had when I saw the Tarrytown show he did last year. He seemed so relaxed, comparatively speaking, that you could almost feel it, just watching the video. He was doing songs he wanted to do, with no pressure to cater to anyone.

I understand the need for the setlists he uses with the band, and the expectations people have; but it's sad in a way. I think these shows are much more interesting and enjoyable than the concerts where he feels like he has to be "on" the entire time and base his choices on what will please the masses.

Captain_jovi 04-15-2019 03:42 AM

I think he's relaxed and enjoying things more but from a fan perspective I don't want to hear those songs for the billionth time. I expected more variety in the song choices and maybe something similar to the 2009 show where he pulled out Power Station song and solo material he hadn't done since the respected tours.

But I bet people are having fun and if it's worth it to them God bless.

DestinationJovi 04-15-2019 05:02 AM

Night 1 he played Bad Name, Prayer, LH, and IML.

And then night 2 SURPRISE!!! Bad Name, Prayer, LH, and IML. The guy couldn't play two completely different setlists for those superfans??

He looks like he'd rather be anywhere but there.

Really poor, in my opinion.

Yeah, Color Me In, Drive You Home and I suppose Joey are songs that are ones you maybe want to hear as they're different but then the rest are the same as usual. I could have predicted them three would get played too anyway.

The songs missing from last night I presume are
I'm Your Man
Under Pressure
Old Time Rock & Roll etc...

Same stuff that always seems to get played.

Old Time Rock & Roll was played

As was Bad Name.

ALWAYS got played during April 13th show too.

It is more interesting to see the tribute band on that cruise than seeing Jon two nights in a row

steel_horse75 04-15-2019 09:11 AM

Why is the set list full of covers.
I understand the lack of rarities as the crowd there are probably mixed and won’t know any but paying that money and get a set half with covers? Mad.

During Always at the first show Jon let the audience sing the chorus for him

See I don't know if I agree. I feel like there will never be a better opportunity to play for diehards then a cruise like this. I don't think there are too many people shelling out that money that just know Prayer.

I agree with you both BUT most of the people are shelling out this money are HAPPY to hear the hits. I'd be ****ing livid with these set lists, personally.

Fair enough. If doing things the way they are works for them then it is what it is.

bonjovi90 04-15-2019 10:02 PM

I gotta say that this setlist would really disappoint me. There's exactly one song on it that I'd like to hear and that'd be I Will Drive You Home.
Yeah, Joey, Amen and Colour Me In are rare, but I don't like any of those three.

DestinationJovi 04-15-2019 11:37 PM

Amen was played at literally every show the tour before last. And Color Me In is from the last album. Don't see how either could be considered rare at this point.

Joey is rarely played anymore but no one cares. It's not a good song. I mean, when is the last time you saw a "please play Joey" sign at a show lol.

Living In Sin is the only gem on either setlist.

Captain_jovi 04-15-2019 11:52 PM

Technically Color Me In and Joey count. Whether a fan digs them or not is another story. That's the type of rare stuff I want to hear played BUT both of those are done frequently on the Runaway shows. Ditto I Will Drive You Home. If it was my first fan club show Id be over the moon. If it's a return trip I'd wonder what about this is worth it.

I do disagree about Living In Sin. Given the bands catalogue and songs they've done in the past, the other choices, to me, fall more into rarity status.

He had a really good chance to dig deep into the wells and instead it's Pretty Woman. Again.

I guess what we consider to be rare or special really doesn't matter when we're talking about a crowd that goes bananas for electric born to be my baby without a single Bon Jovi member playing an instrument.

james_d 04-16-2019 10:48 AM

There's so many cool acoustic songs they could've done. Hard Letting you go, Santa Fe, even something like Miss 4th of July. That's what I'd expect for the price.

YOVANAfromPeru 04-16-2019 04:35 PM

Last night I had a dream where JBJ was singing Como Yo Nadie Te Ha Amado...
what I’m trying to say is whoever are the people going to this (it can be BJ diehards/fans or just fans of cruises/vacations), they wanna hear more BJ songs and in those setlists I don’t see many hits and zero rarities (of course with the premise they care about music).

Color me in https://www.facebook.com/ann.g.brown...6511992109858/

steel_horse75 04-16-2019 05:17 PM

Some women on twitter getting excited cos he sung.... wait for it...Hallelujah....****ing hell. Bland cover version and knickers are in a twist.

No wonder set lists are shit if people getting off on this shit.
