Bounce (the finished product) was overall just a miserable attempt at copying own or someone else's success. From the nu metal-like guitars to the Creed-influence to basically trying to copy the success of IML and TYFLM with their two ugly little brothers, it just went off the rails.
There's a reason why it was left out of the GH compilation and Richie being quoted saying: "Bounce wasn't much fun, but we shoved it down everyone's throats anyway..." |

I think it's a valid point to make. But a part of me thinks it's funny we can't accept All About Loving You for being a true power ballad of theres because it was made to sound like the past when Thank You For Loving Me is just as guilty, even down to rehashing "These five words". Both, to me, felt very forced and calculated but I guess the band post 1992 can be guilty of that.

To me it is one of their most consistent albums. It is one of only a few Bon Jovi albums in which you can clearly hear the musical leitmotif. While there are (as usual) quite some outtakes that are better songs, the song selection as a whole fits much better together than the songs on Crush or even on Keep The Faith. Bounce has a flow that Crush and Keep The Faith are missing (both great albums in their own right, but as mentioned by many of you in a lot of threads before, Keep The Faith has very strong and perfectly fitting first 6 songs while afterwards the flow drops). At the end of the day it's probably just a matter of taste. |
Bounce is as masterpiece compared to What About Now!🤣

I really like Everyday but I feel most of the 'even songs' (tracks 4,,6,8...) Are boring or poor whereas the odd number title tracks are heavy or some of my favourite by the band. Undivided The Distance Not so much Misunderstood for me but it's ok Hook Me Up Love Me Back To Life Bounce All songs I strongly like ^ Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapatalk |
Undivided, Misunderstood and the title track are great. Crush has about as many genuinely good tracks as well (IML, Thank You, One Wild Night) - interestingly enough, they were all released as singles, too. Two Story Town is cool, same for Just Older - I guess the b-tier stuff is better on Crush?
