Some of these songs were meant for another Greatest Hits planned in 1998 and were then re-recorded by the band. There's Life's Too Short For Days Like These which was recorded by Jon and the Big Dogs in 1998, just like These Arms Are Open All Night wasn't meant for Sex Sells either. Sex Sells, which still hasn't seen the light of day on any official release, was obviously meant for Sex Sells. Obie's said the song wasn't good enough for the Box Set which I find rather hard to believe considering they were willing to name an album after it. Salaam Aleikum, Sebastiaan |

About Sex Sells, who knows, What About Now, Bounce and Lost Highway are just ok songs and ended up naming the album. Sometimes it is just a representative title. I think Crush was meant to be called One Wild Night, until they rearranged the tracks. I remember there was another list of songs that never came out, and that came from ASCAP? Some that I remember: Shadow Dancing Good Ain't Good Enough Someday You'll Ride Wild Horses Even Bad Times Are Good Times (Maybe? Welcome To The Good Times?) Even In Your Imagination Forbidden Love I wish all these songs (including the already known Life Too Short and Gimme Some) were on the next Box Set. . |
There's also I get a rush and Someday just might be tonight. And Shut Up and Kiss Me, recorded with the Big Dogs but co-written by Richie if recall.
Some of the box set "info" has some of those songs recorded as early as '97. I'll go to my grave saying Do it to ya is Keep the Fath era. If any of this helps: 19- Temptation - This one is a wild card. I know the box set version was redone with Bobby and I have a hunch Jeff Kazee but the Crush B-side I dont know if it's band or solo Band Recorded: 1- Its my life 2- Say it isnt so 3- Thank you for lovin me 4- Two Story town 5- Next 100 years 6 -Just Older 7-Mistery train 8- Save the world 9- Captain Crash 10- Shes a mistery 11- I got the girl 12- One Wild Night 13 - I could make a living out of lovin you 14- Neurotica 17- Aint no cure for love 20- Ordinary People 21- Welcome to the Good Times 24-Garageland 25- Maybe Someday 27- The One That Got Away 29- You Can Sleep while I dream 35- All I Wanna Do Is You 36- Do It To Ya 31- Satellite 32- Too Much of a good thing 33- Real Life Someday just might be tonight Solo recorded: 6 -Just Older 8- Save the world 11- I got the girl 33- Real Life Solo recorded and released as band: 15- Hush 16- Stay 18- You Cant Lose at Love 22- I dont want to live Forever 26- Last Chance Train 23- Rich Man living in a Poor Mans House 34- Kidnap An Angel 37- Gimme Some 28- These Arms are Open All Night 30- Crazy Love I Get a rush Shut up and kiss me |
Thank you all for your replies.
I remember some interview from the era with Richie or Jon,cant remember exactly who of them, saying they had recorded more than 50 songs for the Crush album. Hope some day we will get some kind of info and of course,as many songs as posible, and if it is with the upcoming box set, much better. |
By my count, and I don't know if the ones I include are ones they have on that list, we have 25 songs recorded by the proper band during those sessions-ish.

I remember a lot of interviews around the time them making a big deal that they picked the best 12 out of 60 songs they had. My guess is that out of all the songs that Jon had and they wrote together they maybe had up to 60. But I never imagined them actually recording all 60 songs. But I could be wrong, that's just my uneducated assumption.....
