about that double album conversation ... Crush is the perfect album for this. I might love a double crush album ... and well, we still haven't heard some songs that were in sex sells. Regardless, I understand it's not a double album, as they were at an uncertain point in their career, and releasing a double album would have been suicide. |

“Mystery Train” is great. One of the highlights of the album for me. It’s an all-out pop song and winds things down nicely after three rockers that preceded it. My opinion on most songs from Crush vary all the time but this song has always been a constant. The live version on the Japanese Special Edition Bonus CD is great as well. |
She's a Mystery is one of the worst songs from the Bon Jovi catalogue. So weird that Jon likes it, considering he never even played it live.

My Top 3: Save The World, Thank You For Loving Me and It’s My Life.
After These Days: the "very dark" record, came Crush: the "whole happy" record. And basically we stood there, but worse... >_< jaja |
VERY much an "of its time" as a record, but then, so is These Days. Insane to think that the time between Crush and These Days is way shorter than the time that has passed between What About Now and right now.
IML - it's a classic, and a good song. Thank You - the last "proper" power ballad they did IMO. Two Story Town - shades of "Out Of Bounds", but obviously a way different sound. Good song. Just Older - barely among my favs. I like the idea of the song more than the actual writing. Springsteen in sound and a more mature, older JBJ, but it falls a little flat IMO. OWN - good song. The rest is okay (CC) to meh (I Got The Girl). |
Crush
Have a love hate relationship with this album.
Like most of it but it’s the start of patchy albums. Some garbage on here like thank you for loving me, capt crash, and she’s a mystery (think this is a DA rejected song). It was a poppier sound and it worked some and not on others. I really like IML, I could make a living, next 100 years, one wild night and neurotica. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
"from Its My Life to a fan favourite Captain Crash" says the text that Jon wrote on instagram.
Captain Crash? A fan favourite? WTF,holy shit,for gods sake,hell,.....,,.,,.,,.aaggg |
Can’t listen to it anymore. The sound is as dated as BJ and 7800 (except they’re stronger albums). Some songs are still very good but go out of my way to listen to live versions of I want a Crush fix.

As for Crush; it's a dated album and most of the songs on it just aren't very good. They tried blending Britpop, which was on its last legs, with the sound of boybands, which were also on its last legs. Luke Ebbin got a lot of credit for making Bon Jovi sound fresh but without It's My Life hardly anyone would've heard this album as most of the rest of the record is forgettable. As a result the album was liked by those who listened to pop music but despised by those who listened to rock music. Most of it didn't go over well in concert either, the new songs constant switched positions and it never really worked. Say It Isn't So, Next 100 Years, Two Story Town and Thank You For Loving Me all went over like a lead balloon and caused a real low point in the set when playing back to back.
