why nothing wasn't on HAND!

out of interest i was browsing thru bo bice's website listenin 2 clips of his album and what do i come across? a song written by jbj rs and john shanks...called nothing without you...lo and behold its actually Nothing! sounded pretty gud with bo bice singing it but would still have like 2 hav seen it on HAND...

im from the uk so please no sarky comments about well duh! didn't i kno it was on his album etc...pretty interestin 4 those of us who didnt kno this i think...

Kev Bee 04-30-2006 02:11 PM

just had a listen, its good, just a bit disappointed that the guys would sell on a song to the fame seeking whores that go onto these kinda shows!!!!!!

Mr Bluesman 04-30-2006 02:14 PM

I thought that Nothing was worthy of Have a Nice Day. It's better than a couple of songs on there. Certainly not the greatest Bon Jovi song EVER or anything like that, I can't see that it'd make the album any better, or worse. For the record, Bo Bice's version ain't as good as Bon Jovi's either.

Becky 04-30-2006 05:18 PM

They should have kept Nothing and let Bo have Complicated and Wildflower.

kiddSambo 04-30-2006 05:31 PM

Someone else said that it sounded like I Am, which I can hear too, so maybe that's why they didn't keep it, IMO I Am is better. But then again LC and SOML sound alike too.

Rainman_Spain 04-30-2006 05:47 PM

I think the reason is 'Nothing' has just a little participation of Jon and Richie. I think the version of Bo Bice sounds exactly like the BJ one, and if you read who played the music, it only shows Richie for the solo. The rest of the guitars are from John Shanks. Maybe the 50% of the lyrics are from Shanks, too.

That's not ENTIRELY true. The credits you're talking about are from Bo Bice's version. We assumed that for copywrite reasons, the musical portion of the song was re-recorded. So it's impossible to gauge how much Jon and Richie and John contributed to the original version.

haveaniceday 04-30-2006 07:43 PM

The reason it was left off the album is b/c it sucks.

Why couldn't they apply that logic to Complicated? ;)

First off, I agree - Nothing is a great song, and should have been on HAND. That being said, and this pains me to say, Bo Bice's version isn't that bad. In fact, his entire CD is rather listenable.

Getting back to the original question - I honestly don't know. Probably the same reasons why:

Edge Of A Broken Heart
Borderline
Love Is War
Starting All Over Again
Save A Prayer
All I Want Is Everything
Bitter Wine
We Can Dance....

Were ALL left off albums.

Mediocre song.

Save A Prayer
Very different feeling than the rest of the KTF tracks.

Bitter Wine
Sucks, plus the "gave head" line - not for American listeners!

We Can Dance....
Completely different sound than the rest of the record.

Both of you need to stop downing Complicated!!! It's one of the better sounding songs on the album, though the lyrics are lacking in the creative department.

MAKE ME. LOL

It's the worst thing they've released since...... All About Loving You. Now, how's them for fighting words? :D

Haha Lyrics are half the fun for me. I need good music and good lyrics to really like a song. The music ain't bad but...eh the lyrics KILL it for me.

rainsong 05-01-2006 02:53 AM

I guess they didn't leave Complicated off because to them it doesn't suck. Nothing sounds alot like I Am to me so my guess is with two songs sounding that much alike one had to get dropped, and Nothing was it.

Yeah, that's a song with GREAT LYRICS AND a good melody that doesn't immediately bring to mind at least six other songs they're ripping off. :D

I wouldn't know anything about the lyrics or melody, I fall asleep before the end of the first verse! :D At least with Complicated, I can rock out!

Well, some of us like songs that appeal on more than just a primal level. Complicated hasn't even reached me there yet. :P

Jon basically hates the song
Reply:I've never heard that before. I've heard him say itwould be too difficult to sing in concert, and that it was "the one that got away".

Mediocre song.
Reply:Matter of opinion, but I always loved that song. There were 2 versions. The one that was a B-Side to Living In Sin was the better, and would have fit nicely onto New Jersey.

Very different feeling than the rest of the KTF tracks.
Reply:True. Not that is always a bad thing. Love For Sale had no feeling to the rest of New Jersey except as a fun closer.

Sucks, plus the "gave head" line - not for American listeners!
Reply:Again, personal preference. I would have taken that anyday over Diamond Ring as the final song on the record.

Completely different sound than the rest of the record.
Reply:Not at all. There were mellower songs on the record, such as You Had Me At Hello or Open All Night. I could easily have seen We Can Dance replace either of those.

Exactly. We can Dance wouldn't have sounded ANY different on Bounce had it replaced one of those two. It's too naive to give any reason to why they didn't make the record. They just...didn't, and we'll never know why.

And what about "Dirty Little Secret" ?
Why it wasn't on the record ? It could have been a hit.

That's not surprising, considering it's been written four times over by the band. ;)

You're one of the few who like AALY. I like most of Bounce (but not AALY or Open All Night).

No I like AALY its the only song I still listen to on Bounce. It took me a while to like it, (and that awful video didnt help) but if you get past the cheesy lyrics its actually a nice tune.

Neurotica80 05-02-2006 08:26 PM

Just heard that version of Nothing and it sounds well wrong. Theyve ruined the chorus!!!

Atleast I'm not alone, it seems this song and album are soo underrated on this board. Acually, along with HAND and KTF, Bounce is one of my favorite albums. AALY, Open All Night, and even Joey IMO are kick ass songs.
