Hardest Part Is The Night Live Tokyo '85

I noticed last night while watching and laughing at the same time at the 84'85 videos. i noticed that the video for Hardest Part is the Night is the performance from the Tokyo Road live '85 DVD. Jon is definitely lip syncing in this song but not in the others. What is that all about? is it because they maybe new they were using it for the video and it had to be perfect? Although it sounds different than the studio version! Totally confused by this? Anyone know?

Maybe I'm naive but I don't think he is lip synching...

He is also lip syncing in other songs. The ones I definitely saw he was were runaway, hardest part and only lonely.
Maybe it's just because the original performance sucked?

in 1985 Bon Jovi were invited to do a 19 day tour of Japan, an unprecedented run for a fledgling band which goes a long way to explain the enormous popularity they still enjoy there.
they played 5 nights in Tokyo all of which were recorded and the official release is actually a mix of footage and audio from multiple shows.
The release was done very quickly to exploit the new sales opportunity in Japan and the edits aren't 100% smooth. It often looks lipsynced but is in fact live though certainly dubbed in parts with other live bits from the tour.

This info is from Alec and the info at this link is from his tour itinerary.
