Older bon jovi vs younger bon jovi

I really liked how the band was when they first started out. Longer tours, hotter looks and Jon could really sing back then. What do you guys prefer?

Live?? I really have an affinity for the 2008 - 2011 tours so I guess my preference would be older?? But they are a bit past that now so I don't know....

I think most people here would prefer a middle ground of 90's Bon Jovi and I can't fault them for it, it was a creative and live peak for them....

1990-1995; 2007-2011 eras are my favorite.

Longer shows, more maturity, way better vocals, best band chemistry.

To answer the more general question, which I perceive as the best BJ period,

yeah it's the nineties! all the way !

80's all the way... That's where all the passion is... 83 to 91

I so agree! Each era had its particular charm to it but nothing beats the wild beginning, the raw passion, the naive innocence, the purity of dreams.

Like a fine wine Jon only gets better with age!!!

on a serious note though...

It is!

It's a happy medium between passion, voice, maturity, spontaneity, long setlists, production.

Not to mention, I think These Days (together with the two new songs on Cross Road) is their creative peak.

I guess the 90's wa the best period, but I think I've sort of grown and changed as the band has, not because of them, but because of life. I wouldn't want 80's Bon Jovi today. I am very happy with the current band and This House is my favorite album since the 90's, so I am still looking forward and not backward.

Eveline 05-25-2017 06:26 PM

The whole thread is like going backwards so I can't see a prob with choosing the best era. Anyway, it's always been subjective.

I'm 30 so I like the period when they were about 30 best but maybe it will change with time...

I just wish older didn't have to happen! I thought Jon would stay young forever! I'm his age so his getting older means I have also.

I love all periods but the way he struggles to sing right now beaks my heart. I'm glad they did a short tour so far for THINFS as I don't think he can do anymore. He's always been so driven and clearly wants to continue (and I really want him to) but I don't think that's best for him and the band.

Darn it - getting older sucks!!
