Train - California 37

Surprised this one hasn't got a mention around here yet seeing as it's out in two weeks. I love Train and thought Save Me San Francisco was their best album yet although from what I've heard so far California 37 is shaping up to give it some stiff competition. There are a few songs from the album that have been released in full that I think sound great:

Drive By:
To Be Loved (it was in a film a while back but is on the new album):
Feels Good at First:
They've also (so far) released two behind the scenes snippets of two songs. I think a lot of other bands could learn a lot from this kind of thing. Mixing interviews, studio footage and audio of the finished song together - it really builds suspense for the album. More so than just snippets i think:

You Can Finally Meet My Mom:
This'll Be My Year (my favourite so far):

the snippets are also up on amazon:

California 37 by Train: Amazon.co.uk: Music California 37 by Train: Amazon.co.uk: Music
I have to say that I think they sound fantastic, really really excited for this album now.

and you can now listen to the whole new album here:

Not listened all the way through yet but i'll post my thoughts afterwards.

I really enjoy Drive By. Always enjoyed Train.

Fantastic album, thoroughly recommend anyone and everyone to give it a listen. Can't really pick a favourite song, most are very good, only the title track lets it down in my opinion.

I can't say I've ever been a Train fan, but what I've heard of this album sounds good. They've been doing previews of songs on The Pulse the past few days. I really like some of their songs (Save Me San Francisco) but am really annoyed by others (Hey Soul Sister).

Love Train, and I'm finding this album a nice balance of their new and old sounds.

Really like them a lot...definitely want to check out the new cd. Thanks for the link!

Fantastic album, so difficult to choose a favourite song. I think the album is every bit as good as Save Me San Francisco. Can't wait to go see them live in a few weeks. Incidentally, has anyone else seen Train live? Saw them a couple of years ago and that gig is easily in my top 5 ever.

Yeah, saw them at A Day on the Green in Australia last year... INXS was headlining but I think Train picked up some new fans that night, they were fantastic. Hope to see them again before too long... I know they're doing a couple of east coast dates soon but no Perth.

"But to get to these highlights, you first have to pass the blatantly Bon Jovi-aping chorus of "This'll Be My Year," which offers immediate indication of just how far Monahan will go to bury any emotionalism in sheer sheen nowadays."

Quite a damning assessment of both Train & Bon Jovi don't you think? It's not even that similar to Bon Jovi really.

Yeah, so Train is playing literally FIVE MINUTES from my house tonight for a groundbreaking ceremony of a huge hospital. The kicker is, it's only available for employees of the hospital. :( But I live so close that I'll definitely be able to hear them playing from the back porch.

Couple of weeks ago they posted on Twitter that some UK news was coming. Pat also posted they are trying to get to Ireland...but still no news!

Hope something comes soon
Am not very patient with things like this! :D

I'm really loving 50 Ways To Say Goodbye, and the video is pretty funny. I mean, it's got David Hasselhoff!

I am no fan of Train but I did buy this last album as I needed more light music in my collection and like the fresh and short tunes on this album. Drive by is my least favorite. Heard it way too much on the radio.

I salute you,
TS

I don't really care for Train but that song is quite catchy and the video is awesome, thanks for posting. :)

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
