I've seen them live 5 times: twice in the same day at Zootopia 2000, once at Zootopia 2002, and opening twice for Bon Jovi (CAA and AC). They're great! My favorites by them are Black Balloon, Sympathy, and of course Iris. :)

You're right!! Here I am!! I love the GGD's! They run a very close second to Jovi in my heart. I haven't even gone on my summer vacation yet and I'm already saving money to go to Vegas on New Year's Eve to see them. If you get any boots Joeykidd...let me know!! You know I'm interested!

Donna 08-13-2003 09:27 PM

Cool! - I've seen them four times supporting BJ, Love them!!
They have now moved up into second place relegating Matchbox Twently to third!lol

I really like "Dizzy up the girl" but prefer "Gutterflower", their newer stuff has that more rocky edge to it.

I don't know if they will ever come back to the UK, they were gonna come back this summer but the trip was pulled due to poor record sales, which was due to lack of promo. I suspect!!

Anyhow, nice to see some fellow Goo fans here! 8)

ShaSha 08-14-2003 01:22 AM

Me!!!

I've liked them longer than I've liked Bon Jovi. Johnny is one of the best songwriters out there but he doesn't get nearly enough recognition for it! Supposedly he and Jon and Richie spent a day writing together during the tour - I would kill to see what came out of that.
Anyway, I've seen them 12 times altogether and they're always great. And Donna, if you liked them opening for BJ you should definitely see them on their own - they're even better!

Gutterflower and DUTG are awesome of course but I love their older stuff just as much. Superstar Carwash is one of my all-time favorite albums. :)

Bon-Jenny 08-15-2003 04:36 PM

Right here! I love the Goos! Johnny really is an amzing songwriter. Much ike Jenn, The GGD do run a close second behind Jovi for me also. Iris has been one of my all-time favorite songs since I first heard it, along with Name.

Just thought I'd let y'all know that if you go to this site http://sodaspace.jukespace.com/suprvid/6to10.htm you can download a video bootleg from a show in Texas last year. Unfortunately I missed the first few songs but I'm sure I'll be able to get them somehow and upload them if anyone wants them. :)

Yvonne 08-25-2003 09:58 PM

Ah i have listened to it! Good album! good songs, a short album! Worth buying none the less!

Jim Bon Jovi 08-26-2003 01:36 AM

yeah im a fan would love to see them live but cant see them coming here very often, dunno tho counting crows come every year or 2 and i can;t see them selling more here than the goo's.

anyways my girlfriends got their last album and an older one with about 19 or 20 songs on it and they're both great. it's kinda wierd how similar they sound considering they're could be anything from 5 to 15 years between them and im talking from the songwriting right down to the production.

The one with 22 songs is Ego Opinion Art & Commerce. It's actually a compilation of songs from 1987-1998. Sort of a greatest hits but not really since most of those songs are from before the band became popular and had hits.
But yeah that's one of the things I like about them - they've never tried to change their style. None of their songs have an "old" or "new" sound.

I think they have changed their style Sarah.
The newer material is much more rock orientated and less punky.
Didn't they start out a punk band?

Yeah that's true. And of course their earliest albums were different since Robby did most of the singing back then. But I think that since the early 90s they've sort of blurred the line between rock and punk. Their radio hits are more mainstream but there are songs on Gutterflower and Dizzy which have basically the same sound as their older albums.
