Burn with me
Some of you may remember before the tracklisting for What about Now was released we had found some of the titles early on ASCAP (Room at the end of the world, Pictures of You, Thick as Thieves) along with a title that never made the record, Burn with me.
I did some digging around, it was given to a girl named Juliet Simms. The weird thing is she says "Here’s a demo of a song I did about a year ago with John Shanks. Co-written by Shanks and Jon Bon Jovi! Hope you like!" ASCAP had Richie's name attached, why would his name be taken off? Makes you wonder if his name was just added to the songs for royalty reasons. I remember the single for What About Now said "Produced by John Shanks and Jon Bon Jovi" on the back, strange considering Richie "co-produced" the entire album. Regardles: http://www.tekstowo.pl/piosenka,juli...n_with_me.html is the lyrics http://prepareforthecrash.tumblr.com...out-a-year-ago It's a pretty forgettable song. That solo really sounds like watered down Richie so I don't doubt he played that on at least the demo. |
Good one, I liked it but it is a really forgettable song.
Maybe they tried for IML version#25... |

Maybe it's just the chords... |
I thought this was going to be about a simultaneous disposing of our What About Now copies:onfire:

They've worn the "Live This Life" idea and phrase to death. I'm thankful they didn't put it on the album. I wouldn't mind having it on the next box.

I'm just not hearing this as a live your life song. It's a cliche-ridden pop love song and that's about it. But man
"It's my heart that's beating down your bedroom door, It's the way you like to keep me coming back for more, And you say, "Let's go down in flames"." Sometimes he writes a really cool turn of phrase. |

In the late 80's through the mid 90s he relied on the die/cry/lie - die for you/cry for you lyric to fill space, and I suppose that is what he is doing here. But they just have carried this out a little longer, I suppose. There is nothing melodically or musically interesting about this song. It's an okay pop song, but with (for the most part) above par lyrics. Okay, last edit: Thanks for finding it and sharing it! I'm glad I know about it and it might grow on me. |
It's catchy and I really enjoyed it.

Too bad they didn't include this on WAN, this is more "rock" than anything on it. Still, not a great song by any means. Ice |
